About Me
Hello, I’m Maggie, and I run Avery’s Childminding in Bretton — a friendly, welcoming home-based setting located in a quiet green area just off the parkway. Working with children has always been my passion, and as both a childcare professional and a mum, I know how important it is for little ones to feel safe, valued, and supported.
At Avery’s Childminding, we combine a warm, family-style environment with a strong educational approach. Our setting is overseen by a qualified primary teacher, ensuring that children experience high-quality learning opportunities through play, exploration, and individualised support. We celebrate each child’s uniqueness and carefully tailor activities to their interests, needs, and developmental stage.
Since moving from London four years ago, I have loved building trusting, lasting relationships with local families. Many of the wonderful children I’ve cared for remain in touch today — something I am incredibly proud of.
We are delighted to have received great feedback from families about our nurturing approach, our communication, and the progress their children make while with us. My Experience
At Avery’s Childminding, my helpers and I provide a warm, nurturing, home-from-home environment where children feel safe, happy, and ready to learn. With many years of experience working with families from diverse backgrounds, we pride ourselves on offering individualised care that respects each child’s routines, needs, and personality.
We create calm, consistent routines to help children feel secure throughout the day. Our nap times are flexible, with cosy options including cots, nap mats, or a peaceful rest space. We also have strong experience in potty training, supporting little ones gently as they build independence and confidence.
Healthy eating is central to our setting. We prepare fresh, home-cooked meals every day using balanced, nutritious ingredients, and we happily accommodate dietary needs or cultural preferences.
One of the highlights of our home is our beautiful garden. With a pergola for shade and shelter, children can play and explore outside in all weathers — planting, digging, enjoying sensory activities, or listening to stories in the fresh air. Outdoor learning is a big part of our daily routine.
We also offer weekly music sessions with the Music Man and visits from Jo Jingles, giving children opportunities to develop confidence, communication, rhythm, and creativity.
At Avery’s Childminding, we aim to be flexible, supportive, and family-focused, ensuring every child feels valued, seen, and excited to come each day. We would love to welcome you for a visit.

My daughter started going to Avery’s when she was just one, and she is now two. I can honestly say we have been so happy with everything.
Maggie and all the lovely ladies working there are wonderful. They are so kind, caring and you can really see that the children are well looked after. My daughter loves going there so much, most mornings she just runs straight in and sometimes doesn’t even say goodbye. It broke my heart a little at first, but at the same time it made me so happy because I know she feels safe and happy there.
They do so many different activities with the children, and there is always something nice going on, play, learning activities, entertainment and even birthday parties for the kids. The home cooked meals are also such a lovely thing.
The best part for me is that my child really loves it there. She even asks to go at the weekend too, which says everything really.
As a parent it gives me so much peace of mind knowing she is cared for properly and is happy every day. We are so grateful to Maggie and the team and would definitely recommend Avery’s to other parents. Thank you for taking such good care of our little girl 🥰🌸

Sending our daughter to Avery's Childminding has been the best decision we've ever made. We're a few months in now, and from day one Maggie and her wonderful team have provided a warm, safe, and incredibly nurturing environment — it truly feels like an extension of our own family.
The staff are amazing: always enthusiastic, attentive, and genuinely invested in the children's happiness and development. Maggie sends us photos throughout the day, which we absolutely love — it's so reassuring to see our daughter happy, busy, and cared for. We also really appreciate the delicious home-cooked food prepared fresh for the little ones each day; it's healthy, wholesome, and made with real care.
The biggest change has been in our daughter herself. She started out quite shy, and in just a few months she's grown so much more confident and come completely out of her shell. She adores going, and comes home every single day with a huge smile.

Leaving my baby with someone else when they were only 3 months old was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make as a parent. From the very beginning, though, Maggie and her team made the whole experience so much easier, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better childminder.
She is absolutely amazing and looks after my little one as if they were her own. Knowing my baby is so loved, cared for, and happy while I’m away gives me complete peace of mind.
Maggie is fantastic at keeping me updated throughout the day with photos and messages, and her communication is always excellent. Those little updates mean so much and reassure me that my baby is having a wonderful day.
I feel incredibly lucky to have found Maggie, and I’m so grateful I trusted her and her team with my baby. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, trustworthy, and dedicated childminder. She truly goes above and beyond!

We have been with Avery’s Childminding since January and we have had nothing but a positive experience! Since joining, our daughter has developed an incredible amount and is much more social. She is always so excited to come to the childminders and even when at home, we say we are going to see Maggie, she gets so excited. It’s a clear sign that she is also happy here. there has always been clear communication around opening times and if there is anything outstanding. I could not recommend anyone else more!

Unreliable childminder. Tells you how to parent, asks what your child eats because they are “obese” - yes, yes she said this.
Reports you if you “forget” anything. When actually it’s failed communication between staff members because nothing was forgotten.
Very self righteous and thinks her way is the only way. Very arrogant, loud, too full on with children.
If your child likes to sit down with their toys instead of dancing it’s a MASSIVE deal.
Very poor intellect. Doesn’t understand that not every child is the same.
She will make you feel a failure.

The decision to terminate the childcare arrangement was not one I took lightly. It followed careful consideration and was made because I no longer felt safe continuing the professional relationship. My first responsibility is to provide a safe environment not only for the children in my care but also for myself, my family and my staff.
I also appreciate that blocking communication may have been upsetting. However, after receiving repeated messages outside of working hours, including during the night, I felt it was necessary to establish clear professional boundaries to protect my wellbeing.
As a registered childcare provider, I have a legal and professional duty to share relevant information with appropriate agencies whenever they contact me or when safeguarding responsibilities require me to do so. These obligations are set out in the statutory framework that all registered providers must follow. They are never personal decisions or judgments about a family.
Because I respect every family's privacy and confidentiality, it would not be appropriate for me to comment on the specific circumstances or the matters referred to in this review.

Absolutely at ease knowing my son loves it here! Everyone is caring and you can tell they adore all the children at the nursery. I viewed many nurseries before deciding on this for my 1 year old. A real warm and friendly atmosphere.

My daughter has been going to this childminder for the 2nd year now, the childminder is so lovely caring and loving you can see they do the job with a passion and my daughter always comes home super happy and always looked after, they do so many different activities through out the day which has been amazing for my daughters development and you can always tell they truly care, if I had any issues with being late or anything like that they have always been flexible and super understanding

Maggie and Oliver were a lucky find when we moved to the area and needed immediate help for the month. They managed to fit my 16m old daughter in at short notice and we never could have anticipated what absolute gold dust a find they would be. Theirs is a fantastic environment, completely dedicated to children, who receive wonderful attention in their care, including great food, warm and loving attention, and a stimulating environment. My daughter (who is now at nursery) still asks for them, and was happy to be dropped off every day that she was there. We will stay in touch!

A Truly Wonderful Childminding Experience – Forever Grateful
After a difficult experience with a previous childminder who couldn't fully understand my son's needs, I was anxious about finding the right place for him. From the very first meeting with Maggie and Oliver at Avery’s Childminder, all of those worries disappeared. They welcomed both my little one and our family with such kindness and warmth that it instantly felt like home.
Maggie has treated my son as if he were one of her own, with love, patience, and genuine care. Since he started attending, we’ve seen such a positive change in his behaviour—something we’re so thankful for. Not once have we had any complaints. It’s clear Maggie truly spends quality time with the children, giving each one the individual attention they need to thrive.
I couldn’t be more pleased with the care my son receives. Knowing he is happy, understood, and well looked after brings such peace of mind. Thank you so much for taking such beautiful care of our precious boy. We will be forever grateful.

Maggie has been with taking care of my little boy since he was 5.5 months old. She definitely knows her onions and is genuinely a kind person. You can tell over time that she's real, not putting up a front and this is not about the money for her.
One thing that I love about her in particular is that she listens and acts on feedback. I like that we both learn about my baby's growth and she takes in to consideration everything I tell her about my baby which is so important to me. His feeding, cleaning, and general care have been lovely with her and he loves her too.
She is also so warm and has a great relationship with every person she has worked with. This lady has an amazing community of parents around her and that's a green flag!!
