About Me
Jo & Chris Childcare
Jo has been a registered childminder since July 2011, having taken redundancy from managing a residential respite home for children who have learning disabilities and complex health needs.
Chris has worked with adults with learning disabilities for many years, he is also a registered childminder and we have been working together since January 2016.
In 2023, we stopped preschool childminding and now offer holiday care - during all school holidays except Christmas.
We have a large play room for the children with access to covered outdoor play area and rear garden. The lounge is used as a quiet room for reading and the older children enjoy this space
We take children out most days, only stopped by the weather.
My Experience
Jo
I trained at The Royal Albert Hospital, working as a staff nurse until 1994.
Since then I have worked in respite care with children who have additional needs. I have for 10 years managed a residential respite home, caring for children who have physical and learning disabilites, many with complex health needs.
Chris
I have 30 years experience working with adults and young people who have physical and learning disabilities- in their homes, college and Day Centre.
Coming from a large family, having 4 sisters and 3 brothers, I am used to spending time with younger children.
Together we have raised our own family, have 4 grandchildren and are used to meeting needs of children at different stages of their development.
My Qualifications
We have both completed the Registration Course for childminders, Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding and Food Hygiene courses.
Jo qualified as a Registered Nurse ( Learning Disabilities) in 1986 and has completed many professional courses including NVQ4 in Childcare.
Chris holds NVQ3 in Health & Social Care and NVQ4 in Leadership and Management

My daughter has been looked after by Joanne for 3 1/2 years. I loved the feel of the family environment she provides as well as the caring, friendly and supportive care she offers. My daughter was very, very shy and reserved when she went there (a bad experience at another nursery) and Joanne helped bring her confidence and joy back and started to be able to play with other children again much to our relief. My daughter still goes to joannes in the holidays and very much looks forward to it. She provides nice food, has lots of activities, toys and they celebrate lots of themes and special events throughout the year . I know my daughter will always have special memories of all the times she has spent with joanne. Highly recommended.

Our 20 month old son has been with Joanne since last year and we are delighted with the service she provides. We always receive a detailed account of his day, there has been some flexibility with childcare hours when needed, and most importantly our son is bright, happy and stimulated throughout the day. He is taken out to various activities during the week, including a local playgroup, which he loves, and is doing very well with his speech and overall development. As a family, we couldn't be happier.

We have been delighted with our experience with Joanne. Our daughter has enjoyed the care provided in a very safe, reliable and secure environment. Joanne has always provided a range of activities to maintain interest and promote development, and the children have enjoyed many outings over the summer months. Helpful feedback was provided at the end of each session, and Joanne was able to accommodate some flexibility in our attendance. Thank you Joanne for taking such good care of our daughter.
