About Me
Hello, I'm Vanessa, a qualified and experienced nanny, postnatal doula, and newborn care specialist with 20 years of experience. I support families long or short term with nannying or postnatal maternity support. I am a Froebelian practitioner - with experience working at Cowgate Under 5's nursery, and love spending time with children outdoors, making things and telling stories. I also enjoy preparing healthy food with children and supporting weaning, and following the interests and inclinations of the wee ones I have the privilege of working with. I offer sewing, woodwork and clay experiences for children, as well as felting, painting and working with a variety of art techniques and materials. I hold several qualifications, such as postnatal doula, newborn care specialist and early years practitioner, and are a member of the PVG scheme. I am also registered to offer tax-free childcare. I am reliable, flexible, trustworthy and have a responsive, gentle approach. I believe in working in partnership with parents, and always try to adapt to each family so that the children have a consistent experience and settle more easily. I am bilingual (English/Italian speaker), and I am comfortable singing songs and reading books in Spanish, French and Portuguese. I can't wait to meet you!
My Experience
I have twenty years of childcare experience, in a variety of roles. I have worked as an au pair, nanny, in nurseries and playgroups and as a postnatal doula and maternity nanny. I have experience with all age groups, from (premature) newborn to 12 year old, and I especially love working with babies and toddlers. I have experience of working with children with a range of additional support needs and a variety of family backgrounds, including single parent and LGBTQ+ families.
My Qualifications
I have an HNC in Childhood Practice, and I have completed the Froebel and Childhood Practice course at Edinburgh University.
I have a Masters in Early Childhood Practice and Froebel from Edinburgh University.
I am qualified as a Postnatal Doula and I have a Level 4 qualification as a Newborn Care Specialist.

- Nannying from £18.00 per hour (gross)
