About Me
Hello, my name is Vanessa and I love spending time with little people! I am a Froebelian practitioner - with experience working at Cowgate Under 5's Centre, and love spending time with children outdoors, going on adventures and telling stories. I also enjoy preparing healthy food with children, making things and following the interests and inclinations of the wee ones I have the privilege of working with. I offer sewing, woodwork and clay experiences for children, as well as felting, painting and working with a variety of art techniques and materials. At the moment I am studying a Masters in early childhood practice part-time. I am fully qualified, SSSC registered and a member of the PVG scheme. I am also registered to offer tax-free childcare. I am reliable, trustworthy and have a gentle approach. I believe in working in partnership with parents, and always try to adapt to each family so that the children have a consistent experience and settle more easily. I can't wait to meet you!
My Experience
I have twenty years of childcare experience, in a variety of roles. I have worked as an au pair, nanny, in nurseries and playgroups. I have experience with all age groups, from (premature) newborn to 12 year old, and I especially love working with babies and toddlers. I have experience of working with children with a range of additional support needs and a variety of family backgrounds.
My Qualifications
I have an HNC in Childhood Practice, and I have completed the Froebel and Childhood Practice course at Edinburgh University.
I am currently studying a Masters in Early Childhood Practice and Froebel part-time at Edinburgh University.
My Availability
I am available on a part-time basis. I am very flexible and are happy to work around the needs of the family.
