About Me
Hi! My name is Mirka and I am 22 years old. I am from Slovakia but I have been in Edinburgh for almost 7 years now. I am currently on a gap year from studying Chemical Engineering (MEng Hons) at the University of Edinburgh, I have finished my third year and will continue my studies in September 2024. I am looking for occasional and regular babysitting. I am very flexible and willing to travel pretty much anywhere in Edinburgh with the condition of 3 hours of babysitting minimum.
My Experience
Since I come from a big family (4 siblings), I am really comfortable around kids.
Since January 2022 until October 2023, I used to take care of two children (age 2 and 3) regularly 3 times a week, picking them up from nursery, giving them lunch and planning various activities to keep them interested and occupied. In August the family had another baby but unfortunately they have left Edinburgh to go back to Chile in October, but I have visited them in January and February 2024, looking after the kids again (now three children at the age of 6 months, 3 and 4 years) so I have a lot of experience with babies as well as toddlers.
Last summer I took care of 9 year old twins daily, doing various activities from going to the meadows, visiting the national museum or hiking Arthur’s Seat. At the moment, I babysit them occasionally when there is a school holiday or when parents need a break and go out for dinner.
I also have few other kids who I babysit occasionally. There is one family with two kids (age 1 and 6) and I look after them once a month or so; with a bigger age gap it was a little tricky at the beginning to make sure both of them are happy and satisfied but very soon I created a friendly environment who made both of the kids feel safe.
Additionally, I have experience with older kids, I babysit two of them from time to time (age 6 and 7). This usually happens in the evening hours when the parents want to go out for dinner etc., this involves giving the kids dinner, playing some games or reading books and getting them ready for bed.
My Qualifications
I am currently studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Edinburgh. I graduated Liberton high school in 2020. I did 3 Advanced Highers (Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics) and 6 Highers (English, ESOL, Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Human Biology) in which I all got excellent results (A's and B's). In addition I also did Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award and completed The Mark Scott Leadership for Life Award. I additionally did first aid training.
