My Summary

My Experience

Coming from a large family with four siblings, I've always felt comfortable and confident around children. Over the past few years, I've built up a wide range of childcare experience with babies, toddlers, and school-aged children through both regular and occasional babysitting.

I have especially strong experience with toddlers. From January 2022 until October 2023, I regularly cared for two children aged 2 and 3 three times a week, where my responsibilities included nursery pick-ups, preparing meals, and planning fun activities. When their family welcomed a new baby in August 2023, I also helped with the newborn. After they moved back to Chile, I visited them in early 2024 and cared for all three children (then 6 months, 3 years, and 4 years) for two months. More recently, I regularly looked after an 18-month old girl, spending our days at soft play, the playground, and on walks.

Last summer, I cared for 9-year-old twins daily, planning a mix of active and creative days out, such as visiting the Meadows, exploring the National Museum, and hiking Arthur’s Seat. I still babysit them occasionally during school holidays or when their parents need a break for an evening out.

I also babysit for a few other families on an occasional basis, including one with a baby (1 year old) and an older sibling (6 year old). Initially, the age gap posed a challenge, but I quickly created a friendly environment where both children felt happy and cared for.

My Qualifications

I have over four years of childcare experience with babies, toddlers, and school-aged children, and I enjoy creating fun, safe, and engaging activities tailored to each child. My strong organisational skills, creativity, and ability to connect with children of different ages make me a reliable and capable babysitter.

Alongside my childcare experience, I recently graduated with a BEng (Hons) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh. I also achieved top grades at Liberton High School in Advanced Highers (Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics) and Highers (English, ESOL, Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Human Biology). This academic background means I am confident supporting school-aged children with homework in a variety of subjects.

In addition, I completed the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award and The Mark Scott Leadership for Life Award, which helped me develop resilience, teamwork, and strong communication skills — all of which I bring into my childcare.
