About Me
We are a warm, friendly and slightly chaotic family of four looking for an exceptional Nanny / Housekeeper & Family PA to become a trusted and valued part of our household and make life feel more balanced.
We have two children, aged 3 and 7. Our youngest attends kindergarten and our eldest is at school, conveniently within the same school location 20 minutes drive away.
My Requirements
South Cambridgeshire | 4 days per week | Approx. 11:00am–6:30pm | Long-term position
Both parents work in own businesses, so we are looking for someone who can help keep family life running smoothly. We envisage the role being approximately four days per week, 11:00am–6:30pm, combining housekeeping, household organisation and family PA support during the first part of the day, followed by school collection, childcare and family support in the afternoon and early evening.
As both children are in education during the day, there is normally no childcare required during school/kindergarten hours.
Housekeeping & household management
During the first part of the day, the focus will be on keeping our home organised, comfortable and running smoothly.
Responsibilities will include:
* Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping throughout the home
* Laundry, ironing and managing the children’s clothing
* Keeping bedrooms, bathrooms and living areas clean, tidy and well organised
* Changing beds and managing household linen
* Grocery shopping and keeping household essentials stocked
* Household errands, collections and returns
* Organising cupboards, children’s belongings and general household systems
* Liaising with tradespeople, deliveries and household services where needed
* Helping to keep on top of household appointments and administration
* Light family PA and general life-admin tasks
* Generally noticing what needs doing and taking the initiative to get it organised
We would particularly value someone who enjoys taking ownership of the household rather than needing to be given a daily task list.
Children & afternoons
The childcare element begins around school collection and continues through the afternoon and early evening.
Responsibilities will include:
* School and kindergarten collection — both children attend the same school establishment
* Taking the children to occasional after-school activities or appointments
* Preparing after-school snacks
* Caring for and engaging with the children after school
* Supporting our 7-year-old with homework and reading
* Age-appropriate play, reading and activities with our 3-year-old
* Helping both children prepare for the following day
* Encouraging independence and good routines
* Preparing a healthy family dinner
* Keeping the children’s bedrooms, clothes, school bags and belongings organised
School drop-offs are not required.
We’re looking for someone warm and genuinely engaged with children, but this isn’t a position where they need to entertain them constantly. We’d like someone who can create a happy, calm home environment, support their development and encourage increasing independence as they grow.
Family life
We are a family of four with two children aged 3 and 7 and old cats, so you will need to be comfortable around cats and happy to help with the small practicalities that come with having pets in the household.
There are no dogs.
Because both children attend the same school establishment, the afternoon collection routine is relatively straightforward. Collection would typically be 3:15pm, or 4pm on days with after school clubs.
The person we’re looking for
We would love to find someone who is:
* Warm, kind and confident with children
* Experienced as a nanny-housekeeper, housekeeper or in a similar family role
* Naturally organised and tidy
* Proactive and good at spotting what needs to be done
* Comfortable managing their own workload
* Sensible and capable with household and family administration
* A confident cook who can prepare straightforward, healthy family meals
* Comfortable around cats
* A confident driver with a full UK driving licence
* Trustworthy, discreet and reliable
* Looking for a stable, long-term position with a family
Experience caring for both pre-school and primary-school-aged children would be particularly welcome.
What we’re hoping to find
More than anything, we’re looking for a reliable extra pair of hands in family life.
For us, the value of the role isn’t simply having someone who cleans the house and collects the children. We’d like to find someone who gradually gets to know how our household works and can take ownership of many of the practical things that make family life run smoothly — from laundry and groceries to school logistics, household appointments, errands and general organisation.
In turn, we hope to offer the right person a warm, respectful and enjoyable working environment and a stable, long-term role in which they become a genuinely valued part of our family’s life.

Having worked with Emily for over 3 months I'd happily recommend her to anyone looking for one-to-one childcare from someone experienced with working with young children. Previously having had childcare from a friend, I was unsure how it would be finding a stranger to look after my daugher when we moved house. Keen to find someone with all the relevant 'checks', qualifications and experience, Emily was a perfect fit. The very first settling in session had my baby laughing and reaching for a cuddle. Quite quickly they developed a bond, and I was very happy working from home and seeing my 1-year old becoming a toddler and enjoying the fun and stimulation from Emily, comfortable in her home environment and getting on very well.
Our personal work circumstances have changed and so I no longer require as much childcare, but I hope we'll retain some contact soon after the pandemic, and for years to come at least for babysitting. Thank you Emily, you were a fantastic help at a very transitional time as we moved home and our baby became a walking toddler!
