Hello, I'm Charlotte - a qualified teacher of 11 years who currently works part time in a primary school, as well as a private tutor. I have been working with primary school children of all ages for over 11 years and am available to tutor primary Maths and English and KS3 English.
I'm a native English speaker who studied English Literature and Language at university - I have a passion for teaching English and Literacy skills. I have an up to date Enhanced DBS, a PGCE qualification and am an expert when it comes to teaching Reading and Writing.
My Experience
I have experience of working with children from a wide range of backgrounds and those with English as an Additional Language and Special Educational Needs. I also have a TEFL certificate which means I am qualified to teach English as an Additional Language. I'm familiar with several different Phonics schemes and have had Read Write Inc training. I absolutely love teaching and preparing lessons which suit the individual learner's needs.
My Qualifications
Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) from Newman University and BA Hons English from University of Birmingham. 168 hour TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certificate.

We started searching for a tutor for our son during all of the disruption in schooling caused by Covid in 2020. Mainly, this was to help him transition into year 5 and catch up with his education but more recently has morphed into supporting us in preparation for the 11+.
Charlott has provided regular weekly and also ad hoc year 5 and 11+ tuition for our son in both a 121 and group format and I can't recommend her highly enough!
She is an engaging, thoughtful, patient tutor, who clearly takes great care and attention to understand each students needs. She was also fantastic in keeping me and my partner informed about our sons progress, offering her insights into his strengths and areas to develop as well as guidance on extra resources, and helping us to figure out the application system, deadlines etc etc
Our son has grown in confidence over the time we've worked with Charlott, and that in itself is a reflection of her approach and ability! Thankyou so much again for everything!!
