During the last couple of years I’ve done a variety of childcare roles and also have taken my TEFL examination to become an English teacher.
Hello. my name is Lauren, I'm 29 and live in central Winchester. I've always worked in childcare roles during my time at university and have worked in a variety of childcare settings from primary schools to Montessori nurseries and have a BA in choreography and dance.
In recent years, I’ve worked in a private nursery specifically with children ages 2-4. Here I gained safeguarding training and my paediatric first aid qualification.
My Experience
2010- volunteering as a classroom assistant, I was required to work with staff and pupils in order to ensure the successful running of the school day. Here, I gained a better understanding of working with children and how to teach effectively. It improved not only my communication skills, but also my ability to adapt my work and teaching methods to match the needs of the students.
2012- worked in a daycare nursery back in Brighton for the summer whilst I was home from university. children were 6 months - 3 years old.
2013- volunteered and assisted teaching in local primary schools as part of my degree.
2014- Worked at a local primary schools breakfast and after school tea club which was organised through a local Montessori nursery. This gave me the opportunity to work with children of all ages and see how Montessori nursery's were run. I would work at the nursery in the daytimes between these clubs and in the school holidays also. Through this role I also had some babysitting work.
2016- worked in Spain with first choice as a children's rep and activity host. This involved lots of different sports and activities to be run, helping with kids club sessions from the ages of 4-16. I also completed my first aid and basic lifeguarding certification.
2019- Taught at a local dance school for a year. I mainly worked with pre-school and primary school children.
2021-homeschooled a ks2 child during the pandemic (whilst furloughed)
2021- worked with engage education as a supply lsa in local schools (whilst furloughed)
2021- working full time in a private nursery gaining my paedatric first aid and safeguarding qualifications.
2022- nannying for 4 year old twins and a 2 year old in central Winchester
2022/2023 nannying for a family of 6 in Twyford, Hampshire.
My Qualifications
I have a DBS and have completed first aid training. I have a lot of experience teaching and working with children of all ages.
