About Me
Hi my name is Nicky, I am a mum and nanny, with varied and vast experience of both caring for and teaching children. I am a fully qualified early years teacher, with a post graduate qualification in early years education. I was a childminder for 16 years before going into teaching. I have 3 grown up children of my own and 3 grandchildren, who I adore and am very involved with. I am DBS checked.
My Experience
I have been teaching for 17 years, mainly in early years and KS1 but have in the past taught KS2. Before training to be a teacher I was a childminder for 16 years while my children were small. I also tutor either in the child's home or at Little Angels Life Lessons, based in Fords Farm, Reading. I absolutely love working with children, the most rewarding job in the world and couldn't imagine doing anything else. I am passionate about outdoor learning and learning through play in a multisensory way. I worked for Path Hill Outdoors (2Wild), as a woodlands party leader for several years too. I also have experience working for Homestart as a volunteer.
My Qualifications
Early Years Teacher qualification, from Reading University. Post Graduate Certificate in Early Years Education, also from Reading University. I have a BA Hons degree in Children's Development and Learning. Forest School training. Safeguarding and many other courses attended relating to education. NVQ 3 in Assisting Teaching and Learning.
My Availability
I am semi retired, filling my time with supply teaching, tutoring and caring part time for grandchildren. This gives me the flexibility to work when required.
