About Me

Private Nanny, Professional Postnatal Doula and Family Support, providing high-quality, flexible care tailored to the needs of professional families.

I offer part-time nannying on both a regular and occasional basis, alongside postnatal support and mother's help. I work with a limited number of families to provide a consistent, reliable and personalised service. I also welcome enquiries from families visiting the area for holidays, weddings and local events, offering flexible childcare and postnatal support throughout your stay. I provide daytime, evening and overnight childcare as required.

Having grown up in a family that owned and ran a successful independent school, education has always been at the heart of my life. Combined with my academic background and childcare experience, it has shaped my belief that children learn best when they feel safe, supported and inspired.

Before moving into childcare, I completed a PhD and worked in scientific research and higher education. Today, I bring the same professionalism, curiosity and evidence-based approach to supporting children and families. I aim to become a trusted, reassuring presence who adapts to each family's needs, providing thoughtful, dependable support at every stage of family life.

With over 15 years' experience in education at all levels, an Enhanced DBS, First Aid and childcare training, I support children from newborn through to primary school age. Alongside private childcare, I previously worked as a teaching assistant specialising in early literacy, phonics, and speech and language. I love encouraging children's natural curiosity through reading, conversation, outdoor exploration and play, helping them develop confidence, independence and a lifelong love of learning.

My approach is calm, nurturing and organised. Whether caring for a newborn, entertaining an energetic toddler, supporting school routines or helping parents navigate life with a new baby, I adapt to each family's individual needs. As a Postnatal Doula, I provide practical and emotional support during the transition to parenthood, including newborn care, feeding support, overnight care, care for older siblings, meal preparation and household organisation.

Many families continue working with me long after the newborn stage. As children grow, my role naturally evolves into nannying and family support, providing continuity of care from those first weeks through the toddler and preschool years, and beyond.

My Experience

I have over 15 years' experience in education, from university level to newborns!

As a former primary school teaching assistant, I still maintain a particular interest in early literacy, phonics, speech and language development. Before moving into childcare, I worked in scientific research and higher education, developing strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.

I am experienced in adapting to each family's routines and preferences, supporting both children and parents with professionalism, flexibility and discretion. Whether providing regular childcare, postnatal support or an extra pair of hands during busy periods, I aim to make family life feel calmer, more organised and better supported.

My Qualifications

- Doctorate and BSc in science-based subjects
- Teaching Assistant with training in safeguarding, SEND, literacy, phonics, speech and language development, and child nutrition
- Postnatal Doula training covering newborn care, infant feeding, sleep safety, postpartum recovery, postpartum nutrition, parental mental health and nannying
- Enhanced DBS
- First Aid
- Native English speaker; fluent in French

My scientific background enables me to confidently interpret current research and guidance relating to child development, education and newborn care, ensuring my practice remains informed by the latest evidence.

My Availability

My schedule is fluid so that I can support regular families as well as provide ad-hoc support. From September 2026 I will have space to take on new families as older children in my care transition to school.

Emmy has helped us with so much since our baby was a couple of weeks old. He is now 14 months and she does a weekly pickup from nursery for us & dinner / bath / getting him ready for bed. She recently did 2 nights for us & the first time we had left Jack - there is no-one else we would trust as much as Emmy. She is patient, kind and also uses initiative to get things done. She’s also saved us from a lot of situations when we were left without childcare. We have found an absolute gem!

Emmy cared for my 4 year old and my friend's 19 month old while we vacationed in Oxford for the weekend. Emmy was able to make both girls feel secure and comfortable from the moment they met her. Both have very different needs because of the age difference but Emmy was able to provide for them with ease equally. When Emmy arrive the second day my daughter wanted to introduce her to all our other friends, she was so proud, that was special.

It was my first time hiring a nanny while on vacation, Emmy made me feel at easy and communicated so eloquently. I highly recommend Emmy, I only wished she lived close to me. Thank you Emmy

Response by Avatar for Emmy Emmy on 30/10/2024:

Thank you Sonya for such a lovely review. It was a privilege to care for your daughter, and your friends daughter, recently. I appreciate the trust it takes to leave your children in the hands of someone new, whilst in a new country too. Thank you for choosing me! Both girls were a delight to be with.

Emmy worked as a part-time nanny for our two-year-old daughter for nine months between January and September 2024. We are extremely sad that she was unable to continue with us; this is only because we needed to move to a full-time nanny (due to both having another child and our daughter’s nursery cutting hours) and Emmy has other commitments.
We cannot recommend Emmy highly enough. She offers far more than childcare, teaching our daughter early lessons, arts and crafts and cooking (having fun preparing meals together has made our daughter much less fussy about eating). She is a wonderful person - extremely caring, nurturing and endlessly patient - and our daughter loves spending time with her. However, neither is she a pushover but will always carefully explain why something needs to be done. There is no doubt that Emmy has been a very positive influence on our daughter’s development and any child would be very lucky to have her in their life.
