About Me

A friendly, caring teaching assistant & mum providing nannying, babysitting, postnatal support and mother's help. Enhanced DBS. 10 years experience in education, from babies to university level!

***Please note, I am currently very full, but will have some availability on a Thursday from Feb 2024. I am otherwise available for evening/weekend childcare, or ad-hoc daytime help. Please get in touch on 7526933791 to see if I can help your family***

I'm kind and compassionate with a lot of patience. When I get time out from being a mum, I spend my time outdoors- walking, open water swimming, kayaking, yoga. I'm equally in my element when snuggled up with a good book!

Having a background in science, exploring nature alongside children is my passion. Nature sparks so many interesting conversations and opportunities for play. Bedtime stories are also an absolute must, it's the most magical part of the day.

I know how hard it is to be a parent, and will do anything I can to help you out at home- washing, cooking, cleaning, tidying, playing, educating your little ones, and helping them to thrive.

If you feel I could support your family in any way, I'd love to have a chat and get to know you all!

***Nannying - day & evening***

Childcare in your own home- experience from newborn to older children. I started this service after struggling to find a babysitter for my own family. I realised how hard it was to find someone responsible, caring and experienced who I could trust to look after my own children. Most babysitters are teenagers, and this just wasn't a scenario I was comfortable with. Being experienced in childcare, I started offering babysitting services and have found this to be very popular amongst like-minded parents.
From £20/hr

***Postnatal support***

I provide hands on baby-care, emotional support and guidance for parents, help with older children, household chores, food orders& shopping, light cooking, running errands, night feeds, babysitting. I adapt to the needs of each family- whatever makes things a little bit easier on exhausted parents in the early stages!

My primary role is to care for the mum, so she is well nourished, well informed and supported- so she can be the best mum and enjoy the experience so much more. I let you recover- rest, sleep and shower. I nurture you with wholesome food, to help mum's recovery and give you the energy you need to take care of a newborn. I do everything I can to make your life easier, so all you need to do is feed your baby, sleep, and soak up those precious moments that go by too fast!

I am a calm, reassuring presence in those early months. I provide new parents emotional support. I listen, guide and encourage, whilst signposting you to resources, support networks and further care options if you need them.

Modern society rushes new parents to bounce back. Families rarely have the support networks of local friends/family they so need in the early stages. All too often, visitors are just there for the baby, but I am the one who is there for the parents.

I mainly help families in the early months following your baby's birth, but sometimes for much longer. It's never too soon or too late- if you think I could help you, please get in touch.
From £20/hr

***Mother's help***

I'm an extra pair of hands around the house, to make parents lives easier. Can include light cooking, tidying, laundry, shopping/food orders, entertaining children, running errands, light cleaning.
From £20/hr

My Experience

I have degrees in science and previously worked in research and teaching in higher education since 2014. After becoming a mum myself, I took the opportunity to work with younger children, and I absolutely love it. I am a part-time teaching assistant in a school, with children from 4-11 years. My specialism is reading, phonics and speech& language (including English as an additional language - i.e. when English is not spoken at home).

I have provided private babysitting/childcare for the past 15 years, and now also offer postnatal support. I work mainly with newborn to school age. I support the family unit as a whole by helping with baby-care, household tasks, and primarily looking after mum. I'm passionate that parents should have access to this type of support in the early months after childbirth, and I see first hand what a difference it has on their physical and mental well-being in those challenging early days.

My Qualifications

Previously a scientist, I have a Doctorate and BSc in science-based subjects.

CPD/work based training in:

child protection and safeguarding,
child nutrition,
ADHD/dyslexia/Autism awareness,
supporting children with SEND,
supporting literary skills and learning activities, phonics,
speech& language development.
Postpartum recovery,
postpartum nutrition and exercise,
perineal pain and treatment,
infant feeding,
sleep safety for babies,
baby care,
safe bottle preparation,
nannying
parental mental health.

My background in science gives me an excellent understanding of up to date scientific literature and guidance for newborn-care and child development/education.

Emmy looked after our 3 year old and she excelled our expectation. She plans ahead, communicates well and provides comprehensive feedbacks, which is not commonly seen with nannies we have employed. She introduced many fun and educational activities like planet cupcakes and colour experiments during her time with our son, and dealt really well with toddler emotions. She applied a calm and firm approach which was very well received. I highly recommend Emmy as a nanny with exceptional professionalism, creativity and reliability.

Thank you for your kind words! It's always a pleasure to look after your son. He engages so well with activities and shows such enthusiasm for our day trips. He makes my job easy! I'm thrilled you're happy with my services. I'm very pleased to have found your lovely family and look forward to supporting you all even more over the coming months (and hopefully longer term!).
Kindest,
Emmy

Emmy has not only been the perfect carer to our two children (3yo & newborn) she has kept us sane and functional through the arrival of our second child over the first 6 months.
Our eldest absolutely loved her company, and our baby would easily settle with her from day one.
Also the moment she had spare time she would help around the house, sterilising bottles, loading/unloading dishwasher, hovering...anything she could do to help.
She is amazing, professional, knowledgeable and worth every penny.
Thank you Emmy :)

Emmy tutored our son in phonics and worked on his speech and language development when he was in reception and year 1. My son was always excited to see her and really missed her once he didn't need support any more- so we brought her back as our regular childcarer/babysitter!

Emmy quickly got my little one up to speed with phonics after he'd struggled initially at school. She made it fun and engaging - there were always lots of games and giggles. I'm quite sure he didn't realise it was a lesson! She built his confidence back up and reinforced the learning they were doing in school.

Emmy's so caring and patient, and fit easily into our family. We really have missed her support since she moved down South recently. If she has space to take your family on, you are very lucky!

Thanks for your beautiful review. I really miss looking after your son since moving! It was a pleasure to care for him over the years. Speech and language is my passion, and I was thrilled to see how he progressed. I have no doubts he will thrive in primary school!

I can’t recommend Emmy enough, she has been wonderful with my two children who both adore her. She takes the time to get to know you and your family, introduces fantastic activities for the children and I hope Emmy will be an extended part of our family for many years to come.
