My Summary
About Me
Hello! I’m Candice — a mum of three, dedicated home educator, and passionate playworker with a strong creative background.
Alongside my husband, we offer high-quality childcare in a warm, home-from-home setting where children feel safe, valued, and inspired. Together, we create a nurturing environment rooted in family values, teamwork, and a shared passion for children’s development and wellbeing.
Our setting promotes play-based learning, emotional wellbeing, and child-led exploration. Each day is thoughtfully planned to encourage self-expression, confidence, and a genuine love of learning — from messy play, music, and arts & crafts to outdoor adventures and storytime.
We both have experience supporting children with additional needs and draw on personal and professional insight to provide inclusive, compassionate care. While we have extensive knowledge of SEND, everyone is welcome in our setting.
We are currently offering flexible care, perfect for families with busy or non-traditional schedules please get in contact to see availability.
Together, we’ll be enjoying more trips, forest school sessions, and local kids’ groups — learning through nature, community, and connection.
If you’re looking for a reliable, nurturing childcare solution that truly supports your child’s individuality, we’d love to hear from you.
My Experience
Over the years, I’ve gained valuable hands-on experience working with children in a variety of settings. I began as a dedicated volunteer in several local youth centres, where I developed a real understanding of children’s needs and the importance of safe, engaging environments.
I’m currently employed by Brilliant Play as a Playworker on a zero-hour contract, where I support a range of community play settings including Marble Hill One O’clock Club, the Adventure Playground, and the Wilderness Forest School. These roles have allowed me to work closely with children of all ages and abilities, encouraging creativity, independence, and emotional wellbeing through play.
In addition, I run a local homeschooling group every Tuesday, which I’ve built up to provide creative, child-led learning opportunities for home-educated children in a relaxed, community-focused environment.
I’ve also recently completed a weekend childcare arrangement, caring for two young girls with overnight stays on Fridays and Saturdays. This experience reinforced my commitment to providing a warm, safe, and nurturing home-from-home for children — especially those who need care outside of typical working hours.
My husband works alongside me and brings a wonderfully creative and compassionate presence to our setting. He’s a musician and plays several instruments, and has a genuine love for working with children. He has worked as a 1:1 key worker in a primary school, supporting children with additional needs both academically and emotionally. His strong pastoral care and calm nature are a huge asset to the children we care for.
We are both DBS checked, Ofsted registered, and we drive, which allows us to take children on trips, attend forest school sessions, and offer flexible support to families with different routines.
Review
Candice is truly one of the most trustworthy and dedicated people I have ever met when it comes to caring for children. As a parent, I’m incredibly selective about who I allow to look after my two little angels, aged 8 and 6, and I can honestly say I trust Candice with all my heart.
When my children are with her, I have complete peace of mind. I can go away on holiday knowing they are safe, happy, and genuinely cared for. I never feel the need to constantly check in or worry, because I know they are in the very best hands.
Candice is wonderfully active and creative with the children. She incorporates things like forest school, outdoor adventures, and hands-on activities that keep them engaged, learning, and excited. She gives children real attention and care, not just supervision. The way she connects with them and nurtures their curiosity is truly special.
As someone who also homeschools her own children, Candice brings a thoughtful, patient, and creative approach to childcare. She naturally creates an environment where children feel supported, encouraged, and valued as individuals.
Any family would be incredibly lucky to have Candice caring for their children. She is reliable, warm, energetic, and deeply committed to the wellbeing and development of the children she looks after. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
