My Experience

I had several experiences as babysitter. I started very young on the behalf of my relatives. I was fourteen and, as they were often away for work, I took care of my cousin who was 6 months old at the time, until her first 3 years. The duties included bathing her, preparing her meals, keeping her busy with various activities, changing diapers, putting her to sleep. I worked as a volunteer teacher at an elementary school where I helped children between 6 and 13 years with their homework and helped the teachers during the children’s leisure hours. I worked as a babysitter for a family with three children aged 10, 5 and 2. It was an overnight job so I had to stay with them for both the evening and the night as the parents were working. My duties were to prepare dinner, carry out evening activities with them such as drawing, building models etc. Then, I would bathe them all before bed and put them in pyjamas. I also changed diapers during the night and got up about two to three times a night to prepare hot milk for the little one. In Aberdeen I have been working for different families in which I provided babysitting service for children from 6 months old to 12 years old. Duties included changing nappies, feeding, cooking, helping with homework, pick up and drop off to and from school etc. Finally I have a personal experience with newborn babies, toddlers and preschoolers as I am a parent as well of two boys of 5 and 18 months old.
