About Me
Hello there! I am a bubbly, chatty, friendly lady in my early 50's and am a proud mother of four adult children and four young grandchildren with the fifth on the way. They are all my world.
Two of my children ( twins) were born with a very rare chromosome condition called Smith Magenis syndrome, so I am highly experienced in managing children with special needs.
I home-schooled three of my children for several years, including my disabled twins.
I love to look after children and am a very enthusiastic caregiver, involving them in arts and crafts, days out, board, and online games and providing lots of learning opportunities. If the weather is great, let's go to the park. And if the weather isn't so great, let's still go out to the park and splash in some puddles!
Whilst all children need some downtime and chill-out time, I am a firm believer in not just sticking them in front of a screen for the sake of it. Although saying that, I love a good snuggle up on the sofa in front of a good movie too.
I am a qualified massage and Reiki health professional, artist, and animal lover.
Before Covid emerged, I had employment as an after-school caregiver for two young children, one with autism. Within this role, I collected one child from school in my own car and received the other child from the school bus. On occasions, I would provide a small evening meal. I enjoyed this role very much and was sad to see it end.
I am DBS checked.
I am not Covid Vaccinated.
My Experience
I have 30 years of experience in childcare having raised my children singlehandedly for almost the entirety of that time. They always had their friends over to play, for sleepovers and to join us out and about on day trips.
I am highly experienced in managing severe special needs as I have 21-year-old twins born with a very rare chromosome condition and autism which presents as highly challenging behaviour.
Until recently, when my daughter and her family moved away, I have had a high level of involvement with her children, the eldest being now nearly six years old, the youngest one years old. Since birth, I have helped to look after them and have attended clubs, groups, and Forset school, for eg.
My Qualifications
I have no official childcare qualifications. However, I have a wealth of 30 years of experience.
My Availability
I am available on most day times, most after-school times, most evenings and occasional weekends.
My Fees
- Babysitting from £10.00 per hour
£10 per hour flat rate. For days out, petrol costs to be negotiated.
