My Experience

From November 2020-December 2020 I worked as the teaching assistant for the Reception class on a temporary basis, but in January was offered the full-time role with the Pre-School class. The opportunity to work with children of varying ages was invaluable, it showed me just how much children grow between the ages of 3-4-5. My responsibilities included ensuring exceptional care for all children, help plan and set up educationally enriching activities based on where specific children were at developmentally, consistently reflecting their needs, creating a safe and nurturing environment for all to feel welcome, upload observations and assessments, work cohesively with my teacher, safeguard, administer first aid, study the EYFS curriculum and stay up to date with its changes.

My current role is as a teaching assistant and a 1:1 key worker with SEN children in the Reception class. So far I have learnt to successfully navigate on the spot problem solving independently, but also consistently communicate with my team in order to create a cohesive learning environment. I love thinking of fun and creative activities for the children and especially helping them develop a passion for reading and learning.
