About Me
My name is Vicky and I am an Ofsted registered childminder. I live in a quiet cul-de-sac close to the Cuckoo Trail, local playgrounds, and a small wooded area perfect for outdoor adventures and learning through nature. I live with my husband and our 8-year-old daughter, and we are also joined by our friendly dogs, Rolo and Toffee, our cat Sooty, and a few hens in our garden.
I believe that play is of paramount importance in a child’s development and is central to all areas of learning. I provide a safe, nurturing environment where children feel confident to explore, discover, and learn through play. By following each child’s interests and supporting them at their own pace, I help them to develop socially, emotionally, physically, and academically in a fun and natural way.
My Experience
I have been working as a childminder for the past four years, during which time I have gained valuable hands-on experience supporting children’s learning, development, and wellbeing in a warm, home-from-home environment. Before moving into childcare, I spent 12 years in retail management, where I developed strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills that I now bring into my childcare practice.
However, my greatest experience came when I became a parent myself. Becoming a mum gave me a deeper understanding of children’s needs and the importance of providing high-quality, nurturing early years care.
My own child is also the inspiration behind the creation of Mini Mates. Experiencing first-hand the challenges parents face when trying to find trusted, flexible, and caring childcare made me realise there was a real need for something different. I wanted to create a setting where children feel safe, happy, and supported — a place where they can learn and grow, while still feeling at “home”.
I truly love working in the childcare sector and find the role incredibly rewarding. Supporting children in their early years and being part of their development journey is a privilege, and this passion is at the heart of everything I do at Mini Mates.
My Qualifications
I am trained in Pediatric first aid. I also have training in EYFS and Safeguarding and keep all training up to date. I also have a bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.
My Availability
Full-time spaces available from September 2026.
