About Me
I have always enjoyed working with children of all ages and over the years I have developed many skills through working with them. In the future I am interested in working within childcare and with SEN children in particular. I have just completed my PGCE in primary teaching with QTS and also have a 2:1 degree in Early Childhood Studies.
Outside of work, I enjoy keeping active by going on walks. I also enjoy dance and attended Stafford school of dance for 15 years studying ballet, tap and modern dance and reached a level where I was given the option to begin my dance teacher training.
My Experience
I have recently completed my Primary teaching PGCE and received my QTS, this involved completing two long term school based placements in both KS1 and KS2 providing me with a wide range of experience teaching across the national curriculum.
I worked at an after school club and nursery in Liverpool whilst completing my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Studies, my role there included picking up groups of children from local schools and transporting them to the nursery. I planned and delivered fun and engaging activities suited to the age group I was working with (6 months - 11 years) and interests of the children.
I worked as a personal care assistant at Helping Angels to children who have learning disabilities and special needs. In this job I was responsible for the care of the children during the day both 1:1 and 2:1, I would have to come up with engaging and accessible activities that I knew they would enjoy. I also had responsibilities in regards to medication and personal care, and attended training courses for their specific needs. Working in this field has encouraged me to go into a job within SEN when I have completed my university degree.
I worked at the before and after school club at Barnfields Primary School from July 2018 to September 2021, and have gained more responsibilities throughout my time there. I am responsible for the care and supervision of year 1 group, I come up with fun, creative and engaging activities for the children, and try to create a fun space for the children. I have gained great communication skills from my job, as I have to liaise with parents, guardians and teachers on a regular basis to ensure the best care possible for the children.
