I am a single working mother seeking a reliable, experienced SEN carer to support my 9 year old son, Cobain. He is a happy, energetic child who is autistic and non verbal, and benefits from consistent routines and patient, structured support.
Role Overview
The carer will provide assistance:
• Before and after school
• During school holidays
• Some weekends
This includes both home based care and community based activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Personal care support including supervision with wiping, handwashing, brushing teeth, and bath time.
• Sensory based food encouragement to help him explore new foods within his very restricted diet.
• Maintaining structured routines to support regulation and smooth transitions between activities.
• Supporting communication and engagement through patient, consistent interaction.
• Planning and facilitating outdoor and community activities during weekends and holidays, such as:
• Zoo visits
• Cinemas and theatres
• Sports and active play
• General fun, stimulating outings
Candidate Requirements
• SEN experience or qualifications strongly preferred.
• Confident supporting autistic, non verbal children.
• Calm, patient, consistent, and able to follow structured routines.
• Comfortable with personal care tasks, sensory based activities, and community outings.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexibly around school hours and holidays.
