About Me
I have recently registered as a childminder, in education for over 15 years and previously a teacher within SEN/alternative settings for both primary and secondary aged children. My family moved to South Hams in June 2022, where we have created a learning space on our land called Barn Hill Learning Community.
We have two acres of securely fenced meadow, woodland and organic gardening plot, with a heated yurt, sheltered play area and compost loo. We also have access to our house for indoor activities, such as when cooking or poor weather conditions.
I am a patient and calm individual, who appreciates play and child-led inquiry. I enjoy being outside as much as possible, listening to music, Geocaching and going for walking.
Also, as part of our family, we have three cats (Kali, Fox and Nova-Sparkle) who make regular appearances in our home and land.
My Experience
I hold a PGCE and Masters in education, recently completed my Forest School Leadership course and have current paediatric first aid and safeguarding qualifications.
Former teacher, father and home-educator to my daughter, who is five and a half. I also have created a learning community, Barn Hill, for home-educated children and do Forest School sessions in school holidays.
All play is influenced on the Reggio Emilia and Agile Learning ethos of following a child's interests and self-direction, promoting independence, inquiry, project-based learning and acknowledging achievements. Extra emphasis is on exploring each child’s creativity and the sessions have a focus on art and craft activities, using nature and natural materials as the basis of our inspiration. There are plenty of stimulating activities on offer throughout the day as well as books, games and toys.

I am currently available Tuesdays to Fridays, with weekends possible on request.
Some snacks will be provided and occasionally we will cook food on the campfire. If needing childcare later in the day, an option to prepare and have an evening meal will be available.
