Registered Childminder With Special Needs Experience Job In Great Yarmouth
About Me
Hello and thank you for reading. I'm a stay-at-home mum to four children in a warm, busy household with a mix of personalities and needs.
•13-year-old son - Autistic, very bright, witty, and independent. Calm, caring, and great company. •8-year-old daughter Kind, well-behaved, a little shy at first, then full of energy. Loves movement and showing off her gymnastic skills once she's comfortable.
•5-year-old son Currently awaiting assessment for ADHD and autism.
He is affectionate, funny, and loving, but he has significant emotional regulation difficulties. He experiences daily meltdowns which can include shouting, throwing, and hitting when overwhelmed. Triggers can include noise, unexpected changes, or perceived unfairness. He is small in stature but requires confident, calm, and emotionally resilient care. Someone who can remain firm, regulated, and compassionate is essential. When early distress is recognised, he can often be redirected successfully.
He has an EHCP and is supported by occupational therapy, speech therapy, and weekly home tutors, and is awaiting placement in a specialist school. •2-year-old son - A happy, affectionate toddler who loves being involved with his siblings and will happily follow you around for cuddles and company.
We are a loving, energetic family. Life can be noisy and chaotic at times, but it's also full of humour, strong sibling bonds, and genuine warmth.
My Requirements
I'm looking for a reliable, confident, and compassionate caregiver with experience (or genuine confidence) supporting children with autism/ADHD or complex behaviours.
Hours needed:
Thursdays -a couple of hours weekly (to allow me to attend driving lessons)
Occasional Fridays -9am-5pm
Occasional evenings or weekends for all children, so my partner and i can have time together.
Because my 5-year-old's needs are significant, require a paid introductory visit at our home. This gives you the opportunity to observe his behaviour in real time and decide honestly whether you feel comfortable and capable in the role. There is absolutely no pressure to continue if it doesn't feel like the right fit.
This role will suit someone who:
Can stay calm and regulated during intense moments
Is confident setting clear, compassionate boundaries
Understands that meltdowns are not behavioural choices
Is emotionally resilient and realistic about the challenges
I'm a positive, friendly, and understanding person, and fully respect that this role is not for everyone. If you are the right person, you'll find a family who truly values you and children with big personalities and even bigger hearts.

I can't praise dawn enough. She is a well known and highly respected member of her village. she has many many years experience and can often be seen walking her childminded children on school runs walking so nicely. she minded one of my children for a year, and he is suspected of being adhd and can be a handful. however in dawn's safe hands he was treated with respect and compassion. He flourished at dawn's and thought very highly of her. she is very calming and gentle, and has a magical way of persuading the children to cooperate. Her home is beautiful and very equipt with a beautiful range of toys and areas to keep children entertained and developing. 1000% recommend
