About Me
Hello I'm Emily, I have been working with children for the last 15 years. It is my vocation, and I totally adore my work. I am lucky in life to have a natural ease with young people, and I know the importance of holding a calm, safe space so that they can relax, express themselves, learn and thrive. I also prioritise clear communication with the parents of the children I care for, and consider it very important to support and nurture the families I work with. This has been further developed since having my own children, as I know from experience how much parents hold alongside loving and looking after their children. I am holistic in my approach to childcare, intuitive, caring, grounded, and have been massively influenced and inspired by the work of Janet Lansbury, and her clear and spacious approach to gentle 'unruffled' childcare.
My Experience
I have worked in many different settings, from teachers assistant, to ABA autistic therapist. I have held at-home sessions for children with autism, as well as in-school shadowing. For the majority of my career, however, I have been a full and part time Nanny.
Drawing from my varied experiences in childcare, I now run weekly toddler groups in Totnes for parents/carers and their children to come together to play and explore using creative props, story, movement and imagination. It is also an opportunity for the adults to chat and support each other. I also hold a session for mothers and their new born babies, supporting them as they navigate the huge initiation that is early motherhood. I currently look after two little girls at my house on Mondays, picking them up from school, making them meals, doing crafts and play.

My Availability
I am available at the moment all day on Wednesday and Thursday. I will be available on Fridays too after Easter.
