About Me
Hi! I am Maya, a final-year student at UoP with an English teaching qualification. I am enthusiastic, patient, loving and I enjoy time in nature and traveling. I speak fluently Czech and Spanish as I lived in Spain so I am more than happy to practice languages with your children :)
I love spending time with children because they wake up the playfulness inside of us and I believe we have a lot to learn from them. I dance, do yoga, meditation, and circus flow arts such as aerial acrobatics. I am interested in alternative education (Waldorf method) which focuses on the development of the full potential of children and their authenticity. I am open-minded, I like to do crafts and create, and currently aiming to become a teacher.
My Experience
I have more than 7 years of experience with children from teaching to babysitting.
For 3 years I ran my own dance classes for children ages 5-11, went to competitions with them, and organized summer camps with day trips, yoga in the forest, or hiking. I worked as an English teacher in a community center in Portsmouth and taught a cross-cultural group of women or exchange students from China.
Every year I go to a summer camp as a supervisor where I take care of children in nature, play games, camp, and do all different kinds of activities. This summer I worked in a Language School in Prague as an English teacher assistant for children. I helped lower-level students to feel comfortable in the class and provided extra support to children with SED such as ADHD or dyslexia. I always ensured children were friendly to each other and everyone felt happy and accepted. I planned and supervised outdoor afternoon activities.
My Qualifications
I have a teaching qualification TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages)
I also did a First Aid course 3 years ago but haven't renewed it yet so it has expired
My Availability
I am still a university student so my availability depends on my schedule but I am free all day on Wednesdays, Fridays, and weekends. Sometimes Mondays and in general, every day after 5pm. I am quite flexible because I am in my last year so I can move my classes if necessary, depending on agreement.
