About Me

I am an Ofsted-registered childminder with over 13 years of experience, offering a safe, nurturing, home-from-home environment where children can learn through play.
I am registered to provide government-funded childcare, which can be shared between myself and one other setting. I offer up to a maximum of 10 hours per day and can provide stretched funding in most circumstances.

My Approach
I encourage children to enjoy their childhood and learn naturally through play. My setting has minimal use of technology, focusing instead on hands-on experiences and meaningful interactions, and adventurous play.

As required by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), I provide a balance of child-led play and structured activities. These are carefully planned around each child’s interests, supporting their development and helping prepare them for school.

I cover all 7 areas of learning, including:
Physical development
Communication and language
Personal, social and emotional development
Understanding the world
And more

Activities:
Children enjoy a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities, including:
Toddler groups
Country walks and park trips
Growing vegetables (seasonal)
Arts and crafts
Messy play (water, sand, painting)
Creative building and making
And alot more.

My aim is for every child to feel at home, build friendships, and create happy memories.

Funding & Payments
I accept:
Non funded and Government-funded childcare (subject to eligibility) ALL children are treated the same.
Tax-free childcare
Childcare vouchers from many companies
I’m happy to guide you through the funding process, although eligibility is determined by the government.

Safety & Registration
As part of my registration, all adults in the household undergo police checks (DBS). Ofsted continues to monitor this regularly.
While my original certificate is an older CRB (as Ofsted no longer reissues these), I also hold an up-to-date enhanced DBS through my voluntary role as a Girlguiding leader. Both are available to view upon request.
About My Family
I live with my husband and Daughter who is at college on a early years education course.
Please feel free to get in touch for more information or to arrange a visit.

My Experience

Experience & Qualifications
I have over 20 years’ experience in childcare, working in a variety of settings including nurseries and pre-schools. Before opening my own setting, Hatchlings, I also worked in a residential care home supporting individuals with disabilities.
I studied childcare and early years education at college after leaving school, and I have continued to build on my knowledge through both hands-on experience and ongoing training.

My Approach to Childcare
Inclusive Care: I warmly welcome both funded and non-funded placements.
?Equal Opportunities: Every child is a priority here. All children receive the exact same high-quality care, resources, and attention, regardless of how their place is funded.

?Experience Matters: With years of experience, and qualifications, I thrive to provide a stable, loving foundation for children to learn and grow at their own pace, though play.
Over the years, I have learned that the most important part of childcare is a strong partnership between parents, the children and the childminder.
I aim to provide a relaxed, calm environment with open communication, ensuring every child feels safe, happy, and supported.
I work closely with you and your child at their own pace, planning fun and engaging activities that support their development while allowing them to learn through enjoyment and laughter.

I also:
Share activity ideas and occasionally send activities home for you to enjoy together
Offer a book club and craft club for children who would like to take part.

Working Together with Families
I understand that many parents have busy schedules and may worry about missing key moments in their child’s development. To support this, I offer:
A daily diary your welcome to communicate in as well as weekly pictures exclusive to you.
Termly parent meetings
Informal gatherings and celebrations either within our home-from-home setting or out in the community.
Group play sessions for families to join together once or twice a year.
Every child is unique, and I support each child to grow and develop according to their own strengths, interests, and personality.

Training & Development
I regularly attend courses throughout the year to keep my knowledge up to date and continue improving my practice.

These include but not exclusively:
Paediatric First Aid (Statutory requirement)
Safeguarding Level 3 ( Statutory requirement)
As well as many additional courses, which, although not always compulsory, I choose to complete to ensure I provide the highest standard of care as times change.

My Qualifications

Training & Professional Development
I have completed a wide range of childcare training and qualifications over the years. You are very welcome to view my full portfolio during a visit, as there are too many to list in full here.
Below is a small selection of the training I have completed:
Childcare & Child Development – City & Guilds Level 3
Safeguarding & Child Protection – Level 3 (Devon County Council certified) (regularly refreshed)
Paediatric First Aid (regularly refreshed)
Understanding the EYFS Framework (including ongoing updates, webinars, and e-learning)
Speech & Language Development and Support
Autism Awareness, Support & Management
Supporting Children with Hearing Impairments
Food Hygiene & Safety
Safer sleeping child
Recognising Types of Abuse & Safeguarding Responsibilities
Promoting Online Safety
Behaviour Management
Play Through the Years

I am committed to continuous professional development and regularly attend training courses, webinars, and learning sessions to ensure my knowledge remains current and up to date. This list is just a small snapshot of my ongoing learning.

Additional Experience
Alongside my childcare work, I am a qualified volunteer leader with Girlguiding, running a local Brownies and Rainbows unit with a fantastic team.
My roles include:
Unit Leader
District Administrator
Mentor supporting the training of new leaders
I also support wider Girlguiding events and assist at district activities when needed.

My Availability

Availability & Communication
Open a minimum of 45-46 weeks per year
Some days off are taken during school holidays and throughout the year for family time and refresher training

Please note: I do not respond to emails or messages while caring for children (except for parents of attending children), as the children have my full attention.
There may be a short delay in replies.

Waiting List & Attendance
??September Spaces Available! ?
?After 5 years of being fully booked through word-of-mouth, I have rare openings coming up this September.
?If you are looking for a nurturing, consistent, and professional home-from-home environment where your child isn't just a number.

Waiting list is reviewed regularly – please check your spam/junk folder for updates
I recommend a minimum of 2 days per week (5-hour blocks) for under 5s, as longer gaps between sessions can make settling in more difficult however I aim to be flexible to meet your needs.

Excellent childcare provider 5*

5 stars

I would really recommend Angie / Hatchlings Childminders to anyone! Although my two boys only went to Angie for a short while they really enjoyed their time there and learnt so much. My boys were 1/2 and 3/4 went they went to Angie. She was really good with them. I would definitely use Angie again in the future for any childcare needs I may have. Nothing was ever too difficult for her and she always helped me when I needed help. She is kind and friendly. Thank you so much Angie :) hopefully use you again soon xxxx
