My Summary
About Me
I am a highly motivated and hardworking individual with several years of experience working within residential childcare and support settings. I am currently available full time and flexible to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, sleep-ins and long hours when required.
I am passionate about supporting children and young people and pride myself on being reliable, approachable and willing to help wherever needed. I work well both independently and as part of a team and remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
Throughout my experience I have worked with young people with a range of emotional, behavioural and mental health needs, including those who have experienced trauma and difficult family backgrounds. I understand the importance of creating a safe, stable and supportive environment while building positive and trusting relationships.
I have completed training in a variety of areas including DDP, PACE, trauma-informed care, safeguarding, childcare practice and first aid, which has strengthened my understanding and approach when supporting vulnerable young people. I am always willing to continue learning and developing my skills further within the sector.
My Experience
I have several years of experience working within residential childcare and social care settings, supporting children and young people with a wide range of needs and backgrounds. This includes nearly 3 years working with Hartlepool Council as a Residential Social Care Officer, where I worked across multiple homes supporting young people who had experienced trauma, emotional and behavioural difficulties, mental health challenges and complex family situations.
Throughout this role I supported young people with daily routines, emotional wellbeing, education, appointments and promoting independence, while helping to create a safe, stable and supportive environment within the homes. I also gained experience managing challenging behaviours, de-escalating situations calmly, safeguarding responsibilities, completing reports and maintaining professional relationships with families and outside agencies.
In addition to my council role, I have completed agency work across a variety of settings including residential homes, outreach support and family-based support work. This allowed me to work with different age groups, needs and care approaches while developing strong communication skills, adaptability and the ability to build positive relationships quickly.
I am confident working both independently and as part of a team and understand the importance of consistency, patience and providing positive support to vulnerable young people.
