About Me
I studied French and Arabic at Cambridge and then trained as a language teacher. Classroom teaching wasn't for me, so I have since been freelancing as a tutor and writer. I took an MA in creative writing at UEA and then worked as a health and welfare officer at the Norwich School prep school for one year. I then moved to Norway. After half a year working out of a cabin on a small Norwegian island and perfecting my language skills, I am back to the very opposite environment of North London! I am taking on more tutoring, nannying and childcare roles now that I am back. I really love working with kids, and I have lots of positive feedback from those I have tutored or babysat for.
My Experience
I worked in a secondary school while training for my PGCE for one year with children from 11-18 years old. I then worked as a teaching assistant in a primary school in a year 6 class for one year while studying for my MA. I moved to be a welfare officer at Norwich School, where I did first aid and safeguarding/welfare support for children across the prep school aged 4-10 years old for one year. I have tutored in French and English, both full-time and supplementarily, for five years, mainly for the 11+ and GCSE exams, but also for more long-term support for a variety of ages, including children as young as 5-6. While living in Norway, I regularly babysat my employer's children (4 and 6) and helped teach them in English.
My Qualifications
Cambridge Modern Languages degree. PGCE from UCL QTS. 5 Years experience as a teacher and freelance tutor, and educational content creator. MA Creative Writing UEA (2021)
