My Experience

Hi, my name is Paul and i am a qualified childcare practitioner having worked in private and public services for 10 years taking care of and being responsible for the education and care of children mostly in an early years environment between the ages of 6 weeks up to 5 years. Although the majority of my experience is with children 3 to 5 years old in a pre school environment, I also have extensive experience working with toddlers from 2 to 3 and also with babies from 6 weeks up to 12 months.(although I have the least experience with this age group I am very confident and able in the nurturing and care of babies)
I pride myself on my attention to detail and my unwavering enthusiasm to give all i have each day to contribute to positive education, fostering imagination, inspiring behavioral management, and my ability to bond with children in a way that creates a strong connection which in turn creates an environment for growth with every child I work with. I am first aid trained including pediatric first aid for infants and i have put this into practise in the past on a number of occasions.
My main strengths are story telling and songs and rhyme that encourages fantastic language development.
I also have an uncanny ability to convince children to eat and try new foods with a huge emphasis on healthy eating which I value extremely highly in the growth of the children I work with. My track record on this element is well proven and I take great pride in opening the doors for the expansion of a child's eating habits.
I have also potty trained many children over the years and can also assist with this goal if required.
Another aspect I value highly is encouraging independence wherever possible. I have a strong understanding of child development milestones and can identify when children are ready to take the next step in a variety pursuits including but not limited to; numeracy, literacy, emotional management, independence skills and forming amd managing relationships with supporting adults and more importantly peers.
I am also degree educated in physics and love nothing more than introducing children to early level science concepts that expand their knowledge of the world around them and encourage wonder and amazement wherever possible.

My Qualifications

I hold a degree in physics from Heriot watt University.
I am qualified to svq 3 level in childcare.
I have completed a number of first aid courses throughout the last ten years including pediatric first aid of which I last completed approximately 1 year ago.
