About Me
My name is Alana and I am a Year 6 primary school teacher working in Brighton and Hove. I have been teaching for 7 years, 4 of those being in Year 6 so I have a lot of experience with the content, knowledge and preparation needed for the and of KS2 SATs examinations. I live in Hove with my partner and 7-year-old son and love to spend time outdoors, on the beach and going for sea swims (only in the summer though). My son and I are both neurodivergent so I have a good understanding of dealing with a range of learning and communication styles and how to be creative in engaging children so that they can fulfil their full potential.
I am also available for your evening and school holiday childcare needs.
My Experience
I trained 7 years ago, completing a PGCE in primary education at Brighton University. I have since worked in two different school across many year groups (Y1, Y3, Y4 and Y6). I have also done private tutoring and ran group SATs revision classes and catch up sessions for the last 3 years. I have had training in Safeguarding and have a full DBS as week as qualifications in maths mastery, children’s mental health, phonics, vipers reading strategies, Talk for Writing as well as many other educational courses.
