My Requirements

Nanny Housekeeper needed for afternoons 3:30-6:30pm Monday to Friday


Location: Brislington, Bristol (BS4)
Start date: Beginning of October 2025
Ideally the candidate will have own car and be willing to use it for work

We’re looking for a reliable, proactive and warm nanny-housekeeper to support our family on weekday afternoons. The role is split roughly equally between childcare for our sociable toddler Jack (currently almost 18 months old) and general housekeeping duties. The housekeeping part will mainly happen while Jack is with daytime childcare.

I will usually be at home while you're working as I work from my garden office. I also care for my mother who will soon be moving into a garden annex, as she has a degenerative neurological condition and needs support. I will often want to spend a bit of time with Jack when I finish work, so although for some of the time the role will be 'sole charge', I'll also be around a lot so the nanny housekeeper will need to be comfortable working while I'm there too. The nanny housekeeper will also provide peace of mind by being on hand when I'm out, in case my mother has an emergency during your working hours (e.g. has a fall). An emergency buzzer or video monitor will be provided.

Responsibilities

Childcare (mainly 5pm - 6:30pm):

* Collect toddler from childminder (short walk or drive)
* Provide engaging and nurturing childcare after daytime childcare
* Prepare toddler’s lunchbox
* Supervise snacks; support early evening routine
* Changing nappies, and occasional early bathtimes and care like cutting nails
* Supporting learning of new skills, eg. potty training or eating with a knife and fork
* Liaising with childminder and daytime nanny on pickups
* Ensure safety at all times

Housekeeping (mainly 3:30pm - 5pm while Jack is in daytime childcare):

* Laundry, including folding and putting clothes away
* Regular bedding changes (two beds, every 1–2 weeks)
* Maintain tidy and orderly drawers, shelves, and play areas
* Keep downstairs open-plan areas clean and tidy
* Water indoor plants
* Monitor and replenish essential supplies (milk, eggs, toilet/kitchen roll)
* Bake bread with bread maker regularly
* Track home maintenance tasks and notify Catherine (plus do simple tasks like lightbulb or battery changes)
* Clean appliances when needed eg. dishwasher filter, dishwasher blades and washing machine filter
* Answer the door to deliveries
* Available for emergency response if if my mother needs urgent assistance and no one else is in the house. She will usually have my dad, brother or her carer with her though

Ideal candidate

* Experienced in childcare of toddlers
* Warm, trustworthy, organised and a calm neutral presence
* Comfortable balancing childcare duties with household tasks. Enthusiastic about the household tasks as well as the childcare
* A passion for healthy eating and cooking
* First aid trained and DBS-checked (or willing to obtain)
* Ofsted registered (or willing to register)
* Must be willing to work when toddler is unwell, unless illness is something dangerous
