About Me
Childminder opening March/ April
My name is Amanda, and I’m currently in the process of becoming an Ofsted-registered childminder. I do also work as a nanny on Tuesday's and Wednesday's. I have over 25 years of experience caring for children in a variety of settings, including schools, preschools, forest schools, nurseries, and through my own childminding business seven years ago, as well as nannying. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to build strong, lasting relationships with many families, and I’d be delighted to share references when we meet.
I’m married and have two grown-up sons, along with a lovely little dog named Daisy. I live in St George, and my childminding setting will be based in Hanham, Bristol. I’m a kind, caring, and creative person who loves working with children of all ages, and I always strive to provide a nurturing, supportive environment where every child feels safe, valued, and encouraged to flourish.
Supporting each child’s physical, emotional, and mental well-being is at the heart of everything I do. I love storytelling, playing games, exploring arts and crafts, and spending time outdoors. I enjoy joining in with children’s interests, sharing their excitement, and helping them learn and grow through play.
I understand how important it is for parents to feel completely confident when they leave their little ones in someone else’s care. I provide a warm, responsive, and secure environment, giving you peace of mind that your child is happy, safe, and cared for by someone with many years of experience.
My Experience
I have many years of experience working with children of all ages. Eight years ago, I had the joy of running my own childminding setting, and over the years, I’ve worked in a variety of roles, from nurseries, forest pre-schools and then nannying, I still work as a nanny on Tuesday's and Wednesday's. I’m confident caring for multiple children at once, always making sure each child feels seen, valued, and cared for.
Above all, raising my two sons has been my proudest and most rewarding experience. It’s given me a deep understanding of the love, patience, and encouragement every child needs to grow, and I bring that same warmth and dedication to every child in my care..
My Qualifications
*I am paediatric first aid trained- 2025
*I have a level 3 qualification in childcare.
*Safeguarding and Child protection 2025
*2026- Food hygiene and safety.
*2026- Prevent Duty
*Qualification Makaton level one
I have other certificates that are child related.
My Availability
Childminding spaces will be available once I am fully registered with Ofsted. My pre-registration visit is scheduled for 19th March, and I plan to open on Mondays and Thursdays from March/April 2026.

Mandy has been caring for our 1 year old daughter for several months now and we can't recommend her highly enough. She is lovely with our child, and makes a massive effort to provide high quality care for her. She is also lovely to spend time with and helpful around the house. She provided us with all the necessary paperwork before starting and some brilliant recommendations.

Having never used a childminder before, we were both apprehensive and realised the importance of making the right decision for our child.
Mandy is friendly , personable and professional. Our daughter loves spending two days a week with her and is always happy to go there. She does lots of different activities and attends playgroups.
I would recommend Mandy to anyone as we think she's fantastic with our child.
