My Experience

My name is Mia and i have been working in childcare for 4 years.

I began babysitting regularly for families before I started working in a nursery where I was based in the toddler and baby room.

I then worked in 2 settings as work experience for my level 3 extended diploma in health and social care. these settings were a primary school where I worked in a reception class and did interventions for children in year 4 with SEN needs. this means I understand the current curriculum and have taught it in the same way that the curriculum suggests so I am comfortable helping primary school children with homework or revision.

the second placement was working in another nursery but this time in the preschool room where I helped prepare children to start school and planned age-appropriate activities to aid their development.

last year i worked at an after-school cooking club in 2 primary schools which involved children aged 6-11. I learnt how to cook with them in a safe way which got them interested in healthy eating and helped them grow their independence. I also worked at a swimming school where I helped children aged 3-13 learn to swim and grow confidence in the water.

i have spent the last year nannying for up to 4 different families at a time, their ages ranged between 4 months and 9 years old. my duties included school pick up, meal prepping healthy and balanced meals and arranging age appropriate and engaging activities to support their developing individual needs and interests. i really enjoyed working with each family and developed close relationships with the children and their parents.
