My Experience
After gaining my NNEB qualification, I moved to London from Stafforshire and worked for 5 years as a full/part time, live in/out nanny in private households around Wimbledon and Wimbledon Village. I then qualified as a teacher and worked for over 20 years in primary education in Yorkshire as a class teacher in KS1 and KS2, (all age groups) and head of department for P.E., Art and Forest School. After gaining my Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification I set up and led a whole school Forest School Programmes in the UK (2 - 11yrs) and a Forest School and Beach School programme in Hong Kong (4 - 13 yrs.) I am passionate about giving children access to the outdoors and the opportunity to connect with nature.
During Covid 19 I opened an Ofsted registered Early Years Forest School provision on a farm also catering for children up to 13yrs. Most recently, since moving to Northumberland 2 years ago, I completed a house renovation then worked for a year on a fixed contract for Northumberland County Council in the Inclusion and Admission departments as a Choice Adviser, supporting families struggling to access education. I am currently the SEND Commissioning and Place Planning Officer for Northumberland also for NCC, but am looking to get back to working with children in the family home, as this is where my heart lies.
My Qualifications
I have the Nursery Nurse Exam Board Certificate, a BA Honours Degree in German and Economics, a Postgraduate Certificate in Primary Education and a Forest School Leaders Level 3 qualification.
