My Requirements

We’re a small Italian family with a 2.5-year-old son, currently based in Woolwich. I work from home and we’re looking for a warm, patient and emotionally aware nanny to become a consistent part of his life on a long-term basis.

We follow a respectful, responsive approach to parenting, with an emphasis on attachment, emotional regulation, clear but gentle boundaries, independence and following the child’s individual temperament and cues. We are influenced by Montessori and Steiner principles, although we value the person and their natural way of being with children much more than any specific certification.

Our son is curious, lively and sensitive. He loves books, imaginative play, being outdoors, nature and anything involving transport, especially trains. We try to keep his days centred around real experiences and have avoided screens as much as possible; we would want his time with a nanny to be screen-free.

We are ideally looking for around 3 afternoons per week, potentially 3–4 hours at a time, with some flexibility. As he takes a little time to build trust with new people, we would prefer to start gradually and increase the hours as the relationship develops. I would usually be at home, especially at the beginning, and once he feels comfortable we would love for the nanny to spend more time outside with him too.

Experience in child development, Early Years, SEND, Montessori/Steiner or similar is very welcome, but what matters most to us is finding someone genuinely loving, calm, reliable and able to be both gentle and firm when needed.

We are also considering a possible move to Canary Wharf in the coming months, so ideally both locations would be manageable.
