About Me
Welcome to DD’s Childcare – Where Love, Learning, and Laughter Flourish
We warmly welcome you to DD’s Childcare, a home-based Montessori setting rooted in care, culture, and creativity. Founded by Donnell (Uncle DD) and supported by my fiancée Hannah.
With over a decade of combined experience in the childcare sector, we are proud to offer a nurturing and dynamic environment where children thrive. My passion for childcare began when I became an uncle at just 11 years old, earning the affectionate nickname “Uncle DD.” Since then, I’ve combined my natural ability with professional training, including a Level 3 Early Years qualification, and hands-on experience launching and running childcare ventures. Hannah, a warm and devoted educator, brings years of experience as a primary school teacher and nursery assistant, and shares a deep passion for childhood development.
Our Approach
DD’s Childcare blends the Montessori philosophy with the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum to offer a rich and holistic learning experience. We go beyond traditional childcare—our weekly routines include:
- Planned educational activities tailored to each child’s needs
- Healthy, balanced meals prepared with care
- Regular library visits to nurture a love of books
- Bi-weekly nature walks and park trips to foster exploration and wellbeing
- Language integration, including Spanish and British
-Sign Language (BSL), to support communication and inclusivity
As a male educator in a female-dominated industry, I’m passionate about changing perceptions and encouraging more men to enter early years care. At DD’s, we champion diversity—not just in who we are, but in what we teach and how we support every child’s unique journey.
Our Setting
We operate from a warm, two-bedroom home, with plans underway to expand with a ground-floor extension, conservatory, and outhouse dedicated entirely to childcare. Our spacious outdoor garden is packed with resources and toys designed for children aged 0 to 4, encouraging open-ended play and physical development.
Located near a nature reserve and close to local amenities: pharmacies, gyms, libraries, and school we are just a six-minute walk from Grove Park Station, with convenient access to multiple bus routes (126, 261, 638, 284, 136, 124, 181).
At DD’s Childcare, we’re building more than a “childminders”— we’re nurturing a brighter future, one child at a time. We can’t wait to welcome your little one into our loving community.
My Experience
My Fiancée and I bring a wealth of experience and passion to childcare, with over a decade of combined expertise. She is a dedicated primary school teacher, while I was born and raised in a family-run childcare environment. Childcare truly runs in our blood, as both of our parents also operate successful childcare businesses.
I hold a Level 3 qualification in childcare, complemented by a university education in Business and IT. My partner has achieved a Level 8 qualification in primary education, reflecting her deep commitment to nurturing young minds. Over the past five years, I have worked as a professional childcare assistant and babysitter, honing my skills and building lasting connections with many families.

We've known Donelle for over 12 years, first as my son and daughter were minded throughout their primary schools years by his Mum, and then since as he babysat through their teens and stayed in touch ever since.
Throughout, Donelle has always had a warm presence, guiding them with calm and good humour. He shows genuine interest in, and curiosity about, their passions - imparting that special gift for a child to be seen, listened to and nurtured as they grow. This was particularly key for my son, to have male nurturing figures he could relate to.
He will bring these skills and traits to create a positive environment in the new setting.

My daughter has been in uncle DDs care since she was 6 months old (she’s now almost 2.5) and she literally jumps in his arms when she sees him! We’ve been very happy with the love and care she’s been given all through these 2 years. She’s an active, curious and outspoken little girl and she’s been nothing but encouraged to be herself and nurtured to grow at every step. She’s also learnt very good manners, always saying thank you, please and sorry and being aware of others around her. She loves books as she’s been exposed to them every day at story time. She loves to try new things and we always get pictures of her baking, crafting, painting etc. We would wholeheartedly recommend uncle DD and wish him best of luck in his new setting!

My little boy has been with Uncle DD for 9 months now, from the age of 8 months and I genuinely feel like I am dropping him off with his second family. The love and care given to my son and the other children in DD’s setting gives me such comfort and security while I work. I know my son is learning and growing in the best ways under DD’s care, his face lights up when I drop him off every morning. Literature and reading are incredibly important to me so I also love the emphasis on books and library visits that DD has.
I absolutely cannot recommend DD highly enough, any child who gets to be in his care is incredibly lucky.

My son has been cared for by DD (or Uncle DD) since he was 10 months old. He has just turned three and he has thrived under DD's care. I could not be more delighted with the level of attention, warmth and dedication he has provided - my son has developed from a slightly anxious, shy, boy into a secure and happy toddler under DD's care, and I could not be prouder.
Theo genuinely loves his days with DD and quite literally bounces into the setting with excitement - DD creates a fun and engaging learning environment for the children, and Theo's social skills, as well as his language and motor skills, have come on leaps and bounds.
I have no hesitation in recommending DD as a childcare provider of the highest calibre - we struck gold when we found him!

I am incredibly grateful to have found DD to care for my 1 now 2 year old daughter. From the very beginning, he made us feel welcome and reassured his warm and caring approach.
DD has consistently demonstrated a high level of professionalism and dedication.
One of the aspects I appreciate most about DD is his ability to create a fun and educational atmosphere. My child loves the activities and games that they organise, and I’ve noticed considerable social skills, language development, motor skills.
