My Experience

I have recently joined the team of Early Years Equity and Excellence Leads working for the City of Edinburgh Council,we provide support to various settings across the City - working as a part of a team in delivering the highest quality service to the children . Through increased opportunities for children at risk of low achievement in literacy due to the poverty related attainment gap,our goal is that 90% of children will progress at least one stage of development within Up, Up and Away by end of the academic year. We use Hanen strategies to help develop language and communication skills.
I was previously an Earth Years Officer at another school,i. charge of the nursery for over 7 years where I was leading the team through various changes and transition (staffing, hours, delivery of 1140) working to deliver the curriculum where we were very much focused on the development of creativity,growth mindset,practical life skills,outdoor learning and numeracy,as well as Children's Rights and Digital learning across all areas.I promoted independence for the children and encourage critical thinking .Thr children had opportunities to take part in Talking Time,Bookbug.We were a team of 8 and I was managing the setting with the help from DHT.
I am a firm believer that children can be in charge of their own learning and should always be allowed to take risks as well as being able to say no and be listened too, to help them in developing their self esteem and practical life skills. I also think that parental support and partnership as well as good team relatrions are essential and I would always be one for organizing get together events or celebrating various festivals and occasions to promote these. As a foreign language speaker I often assisted in the nurseries with translation services and helped with settling in children who were learning to speak English.For 3 years I was a part of the EAL Team (ASL Service) and I worked as Polish Speaking Bilingual Nursery Nurse.I supported the children (and their families) from Nursery to P2 classes in various schools
across Edinburgh. My duties included liaison with teaching staff and actively supporting bilingual learners in their settings.Consitent dialogue and communication with the learning staff and the parents was a large part of the role ; encouraging bilingual and ethnic minorities parents to
take an active part in their child's learning.
I am reliable,professional, experienced and genuinely love working with children.
