About Me
I’m Josie, I’m 24 years old and a qualified primary school teacher with a specialism in early years education (ages 3-7). I have been working and volunteering in various childcare positions since I was 14, a lot of my experience being with children and adults with special educational and complex support needs. I’m very sporty and love the outdoors. Each winter I work in Canada/ Japan as a ski instructor from late November to early May. During the summer I work in various childcare positions. I have a passion for nature based learning and learning through play and love to plan activities both educational and recreational.
My Experience
My first year in teaching was in a specialist SEN school for children with autism and complex needs. I have also worked as a care-lead with children and adults in an inclusive provision during the school holidays for 6 years where I was responsible for supporting young people with personal care (toileting/ showering/ teeth brushing etc) and medications both regular and emergency (buccal, epi pens, inhalers etc). I have worked as a part-time nanny for a family with 2 boys aged 2 and 3 which I loved! In addition to this I work seasonally as a skiing instructor.
My Qualifications
I have a Primary and early years teaching degree as well as 3 A levels in psychology, sociology and drama.
My Availability
I am available from now until late November and am prepared to take on a short term or long term position. I am not in the UK between August 13th-20th. I am available to work during the week, I may be able to do occasional weekends but cannot commit to a consistent weekend schedule.
