My Summary
About Me
I am a friendly, positive and reliable person who brings 100% to every working day.
My Experience
I have two years of childcare experience. I have worked with children in nursery, primary and secondary schools, mainstream and SEN. My interest comes from my academic background. I am beginning my masters degree in speech therapy mid-September so I am looking for work over the summer break and occasional shifts after my course starts. I have a plethora of training and experience which puts me in a great place to start work with your family. I love the opportunities for fun and creativity that come from working with children and am excited to get stuck in!
My most recent childcare jobs were found through this website. For the past year I have worked two part-time childcare roles. One family, I nannied for 3 children all under the age of 4. The second was for a family with a 12 year old and a 9 year old. For these families I entertained and looked after for the children, helped with their development and for the older children, helped with their homework and chores. I have experience working alone with children and with caregivers in the house.
I have an additional year of childcare before this. I worked at a private nursery, caring for children between six months and 5 years. Prior to my nursery job, I worked at an SEN school, caring for pupils aged 4-19. My interest in working with SEN pupils stems from family experience (my cousin has an ASD diagnosis). I studied the overlap between autism and language in detail throughout my degree and started work at an SEN school after graduating. Working with non-verbal pupils aged 4-19 means that I know how to use ALDs, PECs, talkers and other communication devices. I used Makaton every day to aid communication with the children. Being able to communicate with non-verbal pupils or pupils with language delays, disorders or impairments enables me to work with children with a range of needs. I also gained training on safeguarding, TeamTeach, intimate care, communication, epilepsy, asthma and allergies and have an up to date enhanced DBS check which is on the anual update service which equips me to be a nanny/babysitter.
Additionally, my volunteering experience has provided me with experience working with young people, supporting my local community and teaching English as a foreign language (EFL). When teaching EFL in Bali I planned an ran classes for a small group of children. My history has made me into the confident, organised and creative person that I am today.
