Couple with 2 children - Stoke Newington.
My Requirements
Part-Time Private Housekeeper-Cook | Stoke Newington, London (N16)
Monday–Thursday | ideally 1:00pm–7:00pm (24 hours per week)
About us
We are a warm, busy, professional family of four (two adults and two young children) looking for a kind, trusted and proactive Housekeeper-Cook to help keep our home running smoothly.
Our home is friendly, respectful, and organised, and we are looking for a self-motivated individual who can manage the household Ecosystem independently and who is genuinely comfortable around young children.
As both parents work, we value someone who can work independently, use initiative, and become a trusted and consistent presence in our household.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Cleaning & Upkeep: vacuuming, mopping, dusting and sanitising bathrooms and the kitchen. Managing waste/recycling, resetting living areas to a high standard. (4 bedroom house)
Laundry & Wardrobe: Managing the family’s laundry, towels, and bed linen changes, including ironing, and returning items to closets.
Kitchen & Appliance Management: Routine maintenance of appliances (descaling kettle/coffee machine, cleaning oven and fridge). Monitoring food stocks, cleaning supplies, and managing weekly online grocery orders.
Meal Support: Planning and preparing nutritious dinners and snacks for the children. (Occasionally the whole family).
Organisation: Ongoing decluttering of common spaces, tidying children’s play areas,, and rotational deep cleaning of rooms.
General household support & flexibility (ad-hoc)
As a trusted member of the household, there may be occasional, ad-hoc tasks where we would value your help if your capacity allows.
Logistics & errands: Receiving deliveries, overseeing tradespeople, and occasional local grocery runs or errands.
Occasional childcare support: Once a solid working relationship is established and both parties feel comfortable, potentially providing ad-hoc assistance with the children. This might include an occasional local nursery pick-up or supervising one child while a parent is occupied with the other elsewhere in the house.
Guest preparation: On rare occasions, assisting with preparing the home for visitors (e.g. prepping a guest room or extra meal prep).
Candidate Requirements:
Experience: Minimum 2-3 years in a similar private household role with checkable references
Qualities: Warm, trustworthy, discreet, high attention to detail, and able to use initiative.
Must be patient with children and comfortable working in a house with them.
Confident cook who can follow recipes for healthy family meals. Knowledgeable in the care of fine surfaces (marble, wood) and delicate fabrics.
Background: Legal rights to work in the UK and a recent DBS check.
We are looking for someone who would like to become a valued part of our home and build a long-term working relationship. In return, we offer a friendly, respectful and appreciative family environment.
If this sounds like a good fit, we would love to hear from you.

We can't recommend Karis enough as a nanny! She’s been an incredible source of support for our family since May 2025, caring for our newborn and lively 2.5-year-old on a part-time, co-caring arrangement.
Karis is a positive, genuine, and kind person. Her calming presence was a lifesaver on our most chaotic days.
She’s a natural with children, right away she was able to form a strong bond. Karis has taught our music-loving toddler useful songs to help him regulate his emotions and energy at the end of the day. She has handled all aspects of childcare, from bottle feeding and nappy changes to supporting our sleep routines and preparing meals, as well as proactively supporting us with light housework. Karis would also often take our toddler to the park and baby on walks. She handled our toddler’s challenging moments with a calm and professional demeanor, and she's genuinely invested in our children's holistic development.
We feel fortunate to have had Karis's help and can’t recommend her enough to any family looking for a caring, experienced and professional nanny.
