About Me

I am a qualified Early Years Teacher and OFSTED-registered Childminder/Nanny, offering both small-group, home-based provision and bespoke in-home nannying for families in and around Bath.

At Ten Acre, I provide a nurturing, nature-inspired approach for early years children aged 3+ and home-educated primary-age children, grounded in calm, curiosity, and connection. Families can choose between my home-based setting or tailored nannying support within their own homes, guided by the same values and professional practice. This allows for highly personalised, responsive practice that nurtures emotional wellbeing, independence, creativity, and confidence.

Inspired by Hygge and the Curiosity Approach, my work blends a warm, home-from-home atmosphere with child-led, exploratory learning. Children are supported to learn at their own pace through play, enquiry, and meaningful experiences, shaped by their interests and the changing seasons.

My setting is based in a small, cosy cottage in the rural area between Dunkerton and Englishcombe, with a large outdoor space, paddock, and barn area. It is conveniently located near the Odd Down Park and Ride, making it accessible for families travelling to and from the city centre. Ten Acre is a plant-based, term-time only service.

Alongside my work with children, I am currently completing the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET), enabling me to support teenagers and adults through mentoring, training, and future educational provision.

I live with my husband and two teenage daughters. My eldest is an OFSTED-registered assistant.

Ten Acre is a service where early childhood is honoured, curiosity is celebrated, and learners of all ages are supported to thrive.

My Experience

I am a highly experienced Early Years Teacher with a broad background across nursery, pre-school, childminding, and Deputy Manager roles, giving me a strong foundation in child-led learning and inclusive practice.

I have also worked as a BSL (British Sign Language) teacher, supporting children, families, and staff to use signing as an effective and respectful communication tool, particularly for preverbal and neurodivergent children.

Alongside my professional work, I home educated my two daughters during their primary years. This lived experience informs my approach to childminding, nannying and home education support and strengthened my commitment to personalised, interest-led learning.

I now focus on home-based and in-home provision, offering a calm and responsive service that reflects my values and allows children to explore, play, and learn at their own pace, guided by the principles of Hygge and the Curiosity Approach.

My focus is on providing care and education where children feel safe, confident, genuinely valued and able to thrive within their family setting.

My Qualifications

I am an OFSTED Registered Childminder/Nanny with Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS), a level 6 qualification.

I also have a degree in Early Years, Childhood & Youth Studies and Sociology as well as the industry standard NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning & Education.

I am trained in BSL & Makaton and have a solid foundation of good A-Levels & GCSE’s.

I am committed to ongoing professional development (CPD) and regularly take part in high-quality training to ensure my practice remains reflective, current, and child-centred.

Areas of recent focus include: Level 3 AET, Dingley’s Promise, Hygge in the Early Years, SEND and inclusive practice, safeguarding and child protection, behaviour as communication, and emotion coaching.
