About Me

I’m the youngest of nine siblings and originally from Jamaica, but I spent most of my life going back and forth between there and Bristol. Growing up between two cultures really shaped who I am and gave me a strong sense of family, identity, and purpose.

Right now, I’m studying medicine and working as a clinical healthcare assistant at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. It’s been a busy ride juggling both, but it’s also been incredibly rewarding—I’ve learned so much about patient care and the realities of working in healthcare.

In the future, I’m aiming to become a doctor, hopefully specialising in either oncology or orthopaedic surgery. I’d love to work in both the UK and the US one day, helping people from all walks of life and making a real impact wherever I can.

My Experience

Over the years, I’ve had the chance to care for children in lots of different settings, and it’s something I’ve genuinely enjoyed. Right now, I regularly look after my niece and nephew, who are 3 and 6 years old. Spending time with them has taught me so much—not just about keeping kids safe and entertained, but also about patience, creativity, and how to keep up with their energy!

I’ve also helped out with family friends’ little ones and worked with children aged 5 to 12 at my local church’s summer school. Each experience has been different, but I’ve always loved building bonds with the kids and creating a fun, safe environment for them.

My schedule has been really flexible—I’ve worked anything from 3 to 24 hours a week, depending on what was needed. My responsibilities have included everything from helping with reading and homework, to baking cupcakes and making up bedtime stories. I’ve cooked meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), got them ready for bed, and taken them on all sorts of outings—parks, museums, soft play—you name it. I also tried to make learning fun, turning everyday things into little teaching moments.

On top of that, I’ve had hands-on experience working on a paediatric ward, where I supported children in a more clinical setting. That really opened my eyes to the emotional side of caregiving and how important it is to build trust with both children and their families, especially in more sensitive environments.

My Qualifications

One of my biggest “superpowers” is definitely baking and cooking it’s something I’ve loved since I was a child growing up in Jamaica. Food was always a big part of family life and celebrations, and it’s still something that brings me peace and joy. Whether it’s baking cookies with the kids or letting them help stir the pot (safely, of course!), I love sharing that passion and making it fun for them too.

I’m also really creative and hands-on when it comes to arts and crafts. I used to win nearly every competition or school project because I always went all out big, bold, and colourful! I even made my own costumes. I love encouraging kids to be expressive and imaginative through art, whether we’re making posters, building something from scratch, or just letting them go wild with paints and glitter.

On top of that, I’m naturally calm and nurturing. I know from my own childhood how powerful gentle love and care can be it shaped the way I see the world. I always try to pass that same warmth on to the children I care for, creating a space where they feel safe, heard, and supported. Whether they need someone to laugh with, talk to, or just sit quietly next to, I’m there for them.
