My name is Jo, and I am a trainee play therapist (child psychotherapist) currently in my final year of study. I am seeking childcare opportunities in the Inverclyde area, including nannying, babysitting, or supporting home schooling. I am a playful, attentive, calm and compassionate professional with over ten years of experience working with children and young people in both paid and voluntary capacities. I have extensive experience developing and facilitating engaging, educational and cost-effective activities that support children's development and help them reach their potential at any stage or age. I am an advocate for the benefits of play in promoting healthy development and enabling children to process emotions and build social skills.
Additionally, I hold a full, clean driving license, can prepare nutritious meals, and am available to assist with light household tasks as needed.

My Experience
My professional practice as a trainee play therapist is child-led and non-directive.
Over the past three years, I have gained experience working with children in diverse settings, including an outdoor nursery with preschool-aged children, and with teenagers experiencing social, emotional and mental health challenges. Currently, I am assisting in the running of a parent and baby group dedicated to promoting positive attachment.
My past experience encompasses teaching English to children and young people n China, providing support to adolescents with additional needs in educational environments, and leading groups within holiday clubs for school-aged children. I have worked both one-to-one with children and in small groups and classroom settings.

I have a recent PVG certificate, SSSC registration as a nursery worker, and a full, clean driving license.
My Qualifications
Currently studying for an MSc in Play Therapy
I have a TEFL qualification (Teaching English as a Foreign Language)
I have received training in Emergency First Aid, Understanding Challenging Behaviour, Sensory Interaction, and Makaton.
My Availability
I have increased availability during school holidays and can accommodate occasional weekend sessions and overnight care with prior notice.

Jo babysat my two boys at short notice and done a fantastic job, settled the boys very quickly and kept them well entertained such was the good time the boys had that they couldn't wait to show me the drawings they done with her! Very professional, timely, pleasant and most importantly great with your kids. Highly recommend.
