My Summary
About Me
grew up in a town just outside of the lake district and always spent a lot of time outdoors. I love being busy, and therefore have tried to push myself to do lots of things. For example this summer I did camp America and was a solo counsellor for 4 children. I loved the experience and it helped me to really understand what it is like to live with children for extended periods of time. I have also previously babysat for over a year for 4 children 3 nights a week and it was always the highlight of my week getting to see them. I am currently studying at norland college with the hopes of becoming a Norland nanny in the future.
My Experience
I babysat for 4 children (3 boys and a girl) for a year, three times a week. My responsibilities included reading, playing games, getting outdoors and going on trips and also sometimes dinner. 3 of these children had autism or adhd and so I have learned how to effectively support children who have this diagnosis.
I worked at a summer camp for 7 weeks in America, which was split into two sessions of 3 1/2 weeks. In the first session I had 4 girls who were aged 10 and 11, and in the second session I had 4 girls as a single counselor who were aged 8,9 and 10. My duties for this included wake-up, getting ready, getting out of the cabin on time, emotional support, meal times, put to bed, reading books and also teaching within the creative arts department.
I have been the lead coach at rugbytots for children aged 2-6 where I would plan, set up and deliver lessons teaching rugby on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
I have also been an assistant at a holiday club for almost 2 years. Here I helped supervise up to 35 children and ensure they were having a good time and enjoying their time. Also having to deal with a wide range of situations.
I have also volunteered for Girlguiding in brownies (aged 7-10) and been a positive role model. I have ran games, activities, assisted in taking them on sleepovers and day trips out. I have done it for 7 years now.
My Qualifications
I am currently studying a degree in early childhood education and care at norland college. However before this I did health and social care in sixth form and have qualifications within the NSPCC and Girlguiding. I have got a general first aid training and next week I am doing a paediatric first aid course, as well as my dbs too.
