My Summary

My Experience

Coming from a big family, I’ve always been used to caring for and entertaining children of different ages. During my undergraduate degree in Marine Biology at the University of Gothenburg, I worked part-time assisting children with different disabilities. The children stayed for weekend or week-long camps, and I was fully responsible for one child at a time, planning activities, ensuring their safety and routines, and learning about their medication. A big part of this role was learning to read non-verbal cues and body language to understand the children’s needs, which taught me to be observant and very patient.

In total, I’ve also spent around 1.5 years working in elderly and home care. Even though it’s a different age group, it required the same sense of responsibility and empathy, as well as being attentive to individual needs, something I believe has made me a more understanding and reliable carer overall.

After my degree, I spent part of a gap year in Thailand, living with a local family and caring for their two young children while teaching them English. Since the family lived in a small town where no one spoke English, I had to get creative with communication, using gestures, games, and outdoor activities to make learning fun and engaging. Despite the language barrier, I quickly became part of the family and loved seeing the kids’ confidence grow day by day, picking up english so quickly. It was a unique and meaningful experience that I’ll always carry with me.

My Qualifications

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology from the University of Gothenburg and am currently completing my Master’s in Wildlife Biology and Conservation at Edinburgh Napier University.

Through both my studies and work experience, I’ve developed strong organisation, and care skills. My previous roles in childcare and elderly care in Sweden required background checks equivalent to the UK’s PVG scheme, and I’m very comfortable taking responsibility for others’ wellbeing. I’m also first aid aware.

I do have a Swedish drivings license, but just to make it clear, I've never been driving on this side of the road.

My Availability

This semester I'm only writing my dissertation, making my schedule very flexible.. I’m also available most weekends for both full days and nights. It generally work for me to help out on short notice or with last-minute calls.

My Fees

• Babysitting from £13.00 per hour

I’m happy to discuss and agree on a fair rate that works for both sides.
