My Requirements

Our son attends the nursery at St Michael’s CofE School in Highgate. Nursery finishes at 3:30 pm, so we usually need help from around 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm (finishing at 7:00 pm is also possible if that works better for you), for approximately 20 hours per week. We are also flexible on Fridays, as the nursery offers afternoon and evening care and we are able to pick him up ourselves, should you prefer to work four days instead of five.

We are two full-time working parents and are currently looking for a babysitter, as our previous babysitter has decided to move on. Our son was very attached to her, so this transition is quite emotional for us. During the initial adjustment period, we’re flexible and can work from home to help establish a comfortable and supportive routine.

Our son is bilingual. Russian is his first language, and we speak it at home, so he doesn’t use much English with us. At the same time, he attended an English-speaking nursery full-time (10 am–6 pm, five days a week) from June 2024 to September 2025. Since then, we’ve had a mixed arrangement: nursery until 3:30 pm, followed by an English-speaking babysitter in the second part of the day. He can express most of his needs well, but still benefits from support in developing his language beyond simple descriptions and into more complex thoughts.

We’re looking for an active, warm, and engaging babysitter who will talk with him a lot in English — chatting about everyday activities, helping him expand his vocabulary, and encouraging confident, more sophisticated speech, so he can feel comfortable expressing himself in English by the time he starts Reception. He generally communicates and plays well in English when he feels settled, though like any young child, he may need extra patience and emotional support after nursery when he’s tired or hungry.

Igor is a cheerful little boy with a big imagination. He loves cars, transformers, and trains, and can just as easily turn a twig into a rocket or chat away to a favourite book character as if they were right there with him. We’re looking for someone who can step in and help him build confidence, comfort, and joy in English as a natural part of everyday life.
