About Me

I am a qualified childcare practitioner with 40 years experience. I have recently moved to Penally near Tenby and am looking for part time work.
Me and my husband have just relocated to Pembrokeshire fulfilling a long held dream to live here.
I have two grown up sons and one grandson aged 7 who can't wait to come and visit Nanna in his favourite holiday destination. Hence only wanting to work part time to be able to ensure we make the most of our time in this beautiful county.

My Experience

I have had a very varied carer working in childcare since the start of my career many years ago. Initially I worked in preschools, nurseries and private boarding schools before moving into the public sector in 2005 going to work for the Sure Start Programme as it began to take shape. I have then stayed with the local authority since this point, working for Sure Start as a community play worker running stay and play sessions and baby groups, as the agenda for this changed to Children's Centres and then Early Help my role widened significantly. I began to run groups for parents using the Understanding Your Child programme now Togetherness, mental health groups, groups for supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse using the Freedom Programme to working in a the social care arena as a family support worker.
At this time I was lucky enough to be encouraged to take my childcare degree and complete Early Years Professional Status which now qualifies me to teach in early years settings.
Most recently I have worked as a Play Practitioner providing therapeutic play sessions for children aged form birth to 18 who have experienced trauma, for this role I was trained in the Thrive approach a dynamic, trauma informed approach that supports children with their emotional and social development and well being.
As part of this role I was also trained to use the BUSS model a programme that builds on gaps in children's sensory motor development often caused by a disruption in early life and the Portage Model an established home-visiting educational programs for pre-school children (0–5) with complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families. Providing structured, play-based support to help children develop, increase family confidence, and promote inclusion.
Having left the local authority in Shropshire to relocate to Pembrokeshire I am now looking for a part time role in which to utilise some of these experiences and training.
