My Summary
About Me
I am a fully qualified Primary school teacher, an early years specialist and a fully qualified forest school leader. I love being around babies and children and have a keen interest in child development. In particular I believe that secure, trusting attachments are at the heart of a child's confidence and wellbeing, and building that trust with each child (and family) is always my first priority. My practice is strongly influenced by the Reggio and Steiner approaches of child-led play, access to nature, creativity and promoting independence. I love getting children outside as much as possible; exploring, playing and being creative in nature!
I am fun, loving and imaginative when around children, whilst still maintaining age appropriate expectations and a calm, consistent and caring approach to children’s behaviour. I also have experience of working with children with a variety of specific needs, including neurodiversity, and will always work closely with you to meet the needs of your child. For the past 3 years I have been running The Log Circle Forest School (see online for more info about me!), offering regular woodland sessions for families with babies and children of all ages. After the challenges of running a successful business I am now looking for new ways to work with children and families. I live with my husband and 10yr old son in Burley in Wharfedale and also have an older daughter in University. My interests include walking, crafts, reading, camping and being outside in nature. I love animals and am happy to be around pets of all kinds. I understand as well as anyone the challenges of running a household, combining work and family life, and supporting children (sometimes with additional needs). I am happy to combine childcare work with household tasks such as ironing, tidying, cleaning, organising, food prep or dog walking, as required, to help your household run smoothly: )
My Experience
After working as a primary school and Early Years teacher for several years I became an Early Years education advisor for Cambridgeshire County Council, offering training and support to nurseries and preschools. After having my youngest child I began work as a forest school leader running sessions for toddlers and school aged children. For the past 3 years I have run my own forest school business, offering sessions for babies, toddlers and older children. I have cared for children of all ages in various capacities throughout my life and have undertaken continuous professional development across key areas of child development, including attachment theory, schema, play theory, physical development, managed risk and resilience and the impact of nature among other areas.

After attending Tammy's forest school, The Log Circle, when my daughter Sylvia was a baby, it was a natural transition for Tammy to work with us and look after our now-toddler on a one-to-one basis.
My husband and I couldn't be more pleased to be working with Tammy. She's prompt, communicates well, sends lots of updates about Sylvia throughout the day, and is just a lot of fun to be around. As first-time parents, we have plenty of things we're specific or particular about, and Tammy always takes it in stride. She prepares lovely lunches for Sylvia, keeps the house tidy when they play at home, and crafts activities to ensure Sylvia's development.
And most importantly - Sylvia adores Tammy! She gets so excited to see Tammy when she arrives each week. They have so much fun going on walks, to the park, the library, exploring the forest and neighbouring villages, and so much more.
We couldn't recommend Tammy highly enough!
