Nanny in London: Haringey
My Summary
Former Speech And Language Therapist Supporting Children's Learning And Development
About Me
Hello! I'm Miranda, a mum of two adult daughters who recently relocated from Australia to North London.
I offer part-time nanny and family support services and particularly enjoy working with school-aged children. I love getting to know children as individuals, discovering what makes them tick, and helping them develop confidence, independence and resilience.
From breakfast and getting everyone out the door on time, to school pick-ups, homework, activities and bedtime routines, I enjoy supporting children through the rhythm of their day. I'm happiest in roles where my focus is on the children, creating calm, connection and consistency while helping family life run more smoothly.
Families describe me as warm, approachable and easy to talk to. I build strong relationships with both children and adults, and I believe children thrive when there is a balance of fun, kindness, consistency and clear expectations. I'm not afraid to be silly when the moment calls for it, but I'm also calm, reliable and able to provide structure when needed.
I am a strong advocate for balancing screen time with real-world experiences and connection. I have a longstanding love affair with card games, board games and puzzles, and I'm always delighted when a child discovers they enjoy them too. In my opinion, some of the best conversations, laughter and learning happen around a table with a game and a warm drink.
I particularly enjoy helping children transition from school to home. After-school can be a big emotional shift, and I love creating a calm, connected space where children can unwind, feel heard and simply enjoy being children.
I'm happiest in child-focused roles where I can build strong relationships, support children's learning and development, and create calm, engaging experiences. I'm always happy to prepare snacks and children's meals and tidy up after our activities.
My aim is to create a safe, happy and supportive environment where children feel valued, understood and free to be themselves.
My Experience
I hold a Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) degree and have over seven years' experience working as a paediatric Speech Pathologist, the Australian equivalent of a UK Speech and Language Therapist, supporting children from preschool age through to adolescence.
My professional background includes supporting children with speech, language, literacy, social communication and learning difficulties, as well as neurodivergent children with profiles such as ADHD and autism. I have worked closely with parents, schools and multidisciplinary teams and understand the importance of building strong, supportive relationships around a child to help them thrive.
My professional background enables me to recognise and support children's communication, learning and emotional needs in everyday situations. I also place great importance on building genuine relationships with parents and caregivers, as I believe children thrive when the important adults in their lives work together with openness, trust and consistency.
In addition to my professional experience, I am the mother of two adult daughters and have many years of practical experience supporting children and young people through different stages of development.
I hold a current Basic DBS certificate and Paediatric First Aid certification. I am available for part-time nannying, before and after-school care, educational support, homework assistance and supporting children with additional needs. I am particularly interested in child-focused roles where I can build strong relationships and make the most of my experience in child development and learning.
