Emma
Nanny in London (also available for babysitting)
My Summary
Nanny With A Background In Special Education And Visual Arts
About Me
I’m an education assistant (Canadian equivalent of a teacher’s assistant) trained in special education looking for work as a nanny, babysitter, and general household helper. I'm easy-going, patient, and down to earth, with a background in visual arts that I love bringing into my work with kids. I’m adaptable and meet kids where they are developmentally, gently guiding them in the right direction whilst accepting who they are as individuals. Ideally looking for a couple of families to develop a strong working relationship with.
I’m here on a Youth Mobility Visa so I currently have the legal right to work in the UK. I do not have a driver’s license. I'm waiting on a DBS check but in the meantime I have a Royal Canadian Mounted Police certificate in my documents.
My Experience
I have three years experience working in elementary and middle schools in British Columbia with children aged 5 to 14. During my time as an EA I supported students with special needs and learning disabilities, working one on one with students, helping teachers develop education plans, and accompanying classes on field trips. Many of the kids I supported were simply having a tough time at home and needed a stable role model in their lives who’d listen.
In addition to working in schools I have prior experience babysitting and working as a housekeeper and kitchen aide at an assisted living facility. For many years I cared for an elderly relative suffering from dementia, so I’m no stranger to helping out households. I’m very comfortable cooking, cleaning, and organizing for families.
I have experience working with a variety of disabilities and disorders such as:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (including nonverbal)
Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Dyslexia
Dysgraphia
Dyscalculia
Sensory Processing Disorder
Chromosomal disorders (Down’s Syndrome, CDKL5 Deficiency Disorder)
Cognitive Disabilities
Delayed motor skills
Speech-language disorders
