About Me
Hi there! I'm a PhD student and English teacher who has had the pleasure of teaching and working with hundreds of kids around the world. I'm from Cambridge, I studied Chinese at Oxford University, and I lived in China for several years. I love languages, and I am passionate about teaching English, French and Chinese. In my personal time I love cooking, making arts and crafts, sewing, and gardening. Although most of my experience is in teaching academically gifted students, I believe that life is about much more than studying. I love spending time with kids, embracing their creativity, and helping them to fall in love with discovering new things.
My Experience
I have been employed as a babysitter regularly since I was 13 years old (more than half my lifetime!) I have looked after many children in the Cambridge area, usually in the evenings. I also worked as an au pair for 3 adorable French children between the ages of 5-10 several years ago.
I have over 5 years of teaching experience at an elite boarding school in Shanghai for 13-18 year-olds. As Deputy Head of English, teacher, boarding supervisor, and personal tutor, I was responsible for supervising the female boarding house in the evenings and at night, as well as mentoring small groups of students.
I have a UK postgraduate teaching degree and I am trained in safeguarding.
My Qualifications
PGCE in International Secondary Education from the University of Nottingham
BA and MA in languages and literature from the University of Oxford and the University of Bristol
Child Protection and Safeguarding trained (accredited by Council of International Schools)
First Aid trained
