About Me

I'm a qualified teacher with experience in primary, early years and SEND. A creative and values-driven educator, I really value forming genuine, caring connections with children of all ages, particularly those who can struggle with mainstream education.

With experience teaching throughout primary and early years, and tutoring up to KS3, I excel at adapting teaching to all sorts of needs. I aim to make learning an enjoyable and positive experience so that children become confident and independent learners, rather than focusing on results or a ‘one size fits all’ approach.

The current national curriculum does not suit all children, despite the best efforts of teachers and schools. I have seen how difficult this can make school feel for many children, particularly those with additional needs.
With most of the day spent on formal maths and English lessons, learning can feel dull and repetitive - especially for a child who excels in other subjects. Others may become disengaged due to not receiving enough challenge.
As a neurodivergent teacher (diagnosed autism and ADHD), I am highly attuned to the barriers that many children can face in a classroom of 30+, and have lots of experience in finding solutions so that children can (re)discover the joy of learning!

My nurturing approach is rooted in research: in addition to my PGCE in Primary Education and Qualified Teacher Status, I've received training in Trauma-Informed Schools, Philosophy for Children, unconditional positive regard, and studied pedagogies including Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, and Forest Schools.

I am able to offer flexible support: from short-term, targeted interventions or longer term, support for homeschooling, curriculum enhancement, confidence building, and small groups.

I have a wealth of experience, qualifications and skills to share. I initially studied art and continue to practice as an artist, and I love doing creative activities with children. I love exploring the outdoors in all weathers, whether that's adventuring out in the Peaks, or growing all sorts of things in my allotment. I've previously worked as a chef and enjoy cooking healthy, homemade food from scratch.

I love seeing kids enjoy themselves, and believe childhood should be a magical, exciting, and adventurous time. I enjoy supporting children to develop their metacognition and independence, favouring practical activities (being outdoors, nature, art, movement) over anything screen-based, and I can't resist a good book.

My Experience

I'm a qualified teacher with experience in primary, early years and SEND. I have worked in schools (and a nursery) in Sheffield. I first studied art and have continued with my artistic practice.

Before training as a teacher, I worked in the NHS in administrative roles, including medical secretary, governance administration, and project management for service improvements. I've also been a chef and business owner/director, and I've run activities for people with learning disabilities.

My Qualifications

PGCE Primary Education (5-11) with Qualified Teacher Status - Distinction

BA (Hons) Illustration - 2:1
