About Me

Hi there!

I'm Tristan from Julia Durbin Day Nursery, at the Churchill Hospital.

I come highly recommended from Childbase Partnership. Me and my small team were awarded the 2025 Preschool Class of the Year from over fifty Childbase Preschool teams across the country.

Additionally, our class was awarded an Outstanding Ofsted inspection. During which I was given a special mention.

I am eager to bring my background in both science and art to foster STEM knowledge and self-expression in children.

My Experience

I've over four years of professional experience working in early years, alongside six years of working with children, families and schools as an educational game coordinator.

My most recent position is as a Preschool Teacher, where I plan and deliver activities that support children's social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. The activities align with the child's individual interests so that they learn and build confidence through play. I have received a number of awards for this, including:

- Commendations for Excellence in Child Engagement
- Outstanding Activity Creation and Conduction for Ofsted Assessment
- Fantastic Feedback Parent Relationship Building Award

I have also gained extensive experience working with children with special educational needs, including those with autism, ADHD, and developmental disabilities.

Alongside my childcare career, I am a professional freelance illustrator and I hold a BSc (Hons) in animation & visual effects. I find I can draw on this experience to encourage artistic expression and creativity in children of all ages

Testimonials:

Ms. C. Hood - Medical Technician - Brisbane
"Tristan was absolutely wonderful with my children; my five-year-old twins (a girl and a
boy), one of whom has a brain injury requiring particularly attentive and responsible
supervision, as well as my 16-year-old son with ASD. Tristan has a genuinely special
ability to connect with children of very different ages and needs. Rather than simply
supervising them, Tristan actively engaged with them, got down on their level, joined in
their activities, listened to them and took the time to understand each child individually.
He was able to keep them interested, involved and happy, while also remaining attentive
to their individual needs and safety.

I recommend him very highly and wish him all the best in his next role."

Dr Jane de Keyser - General Practitioner - Cannonvale
"Tristan has a great sense of humour. His previous experience with kids made it extremely obvious he can connect with children and take over the parenting. He will inspire them with his artistic background and inquisitive conversations, and he could cook a great meal. Haha. Great break for a single mum."

Mrs. Manu - Parent - Oxfordshire
"He has such a kind, patient, and playful nature with children. He was always down on the floor drawing pictures with my daughter, playing games, and encouraging her imagination. She would come home so excited to tell me all about the stars and planets, dinosaurs, and fossils he had been teaching her about. Watching the bond they built gave me so much confidence in the care he provides. He has a real gift for connecting with children, making them feel safe, happy, and excited to learn."

Will & Gayle C - Parent - Oxfordshire
"I just wanted to feed back to you all on how utterly fantastic Tristan is in Preschool. He is 100% focused on the children in his care, never talking over them, always encouraging them to engage in activities. His imagination is phenomenal and he seems to have such original ideas for new activities. His handovers are thorough and super meaningful-it is so lovely to hear exactly how Robert has engaged with each activity and what he has to work at each day. Tristan clearly has immense skill and kindness in caring for children and he should be commended for it."
