About Me
I believe one of my greatest strengths is my ability to remain calm, patient and reassuring, particularly when a child is anxious, overwhelmed or finding it difficult to communicate. I understand that every child is different and that building trust and a good relationship takes time. I would always aim to understand your children’s individual personality, interests, communication style, routines and needs, while encouraging their independence and helping them to enjoy meaningful activities.
My Experience
I have particular experience working with autistic children. While working at Alban Wood Primary and Nursery School as part of the SENCO team, I mainly provided one-to-one support to two non-verbal autistic children, including a child with global developmental delay and significant behavioural difficulties. This experience taught me the importance of understanding each child’s individual communication style, recognising changes in behaviour and responding calmly and appropriately to their needs.
My Qualifications
I hold a BA (Hons) Degree in Fashion and Textile Design (2:1) from Liverpool John Moores University and an Art and Design Foundation Certificate with Distinction. I also have professional training in First Aid, Safeguarding, Manual Handling, Epilepsy Medication, Buccal Midazolam, Therapeutic Thinking and Rebound Therapy.
