My Summary
About Me
I am a caring, patient and enthusiastic childcare provider with experience working with children aged 4–11.
I have a level 4 qualification in Primary Education where I learned how to understand a childs development, the best approaches to learning, how to promote and model good behaviour, effective communication methods and different ways of supporting a child’s individual needs. I’ve gained practical experience in school placements across a variety of environments and age groups which included working with children with SEND and EAL.
I have a good understanding of of how children learn and develop, and I particularly enjoy helping children learn through play. I believe children learn best when they are engaged, encouraged and having fun. I think a persons character as a child carer plays a massive role how a child approaches activities and tasks, and I have found my confident and bubbly persona helps bring out confidence in all children and promotes their use of imagination. I enjoy coming up with activities that support their interests, confidence and development.
I have thrown creative birthday parties for younger family members involving treasure hunts, crafts, and role playing which allowed children to exercise their imagination. I like to incorporate learning throughout fun activities where possible, such as literacy, maths, or problem solving.
I have a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent children and understand the importance of adapting communication, activities and routines to suit each individual child. Because I am neurodivergent myself, i feel it gives me an additional personal insight into how important patience, understanding and flexibility can be.
In addition, I regularly take care of my soon to be 4 year-old nephew, which has given me further hands-on experience in caring for a young child and how to keep them happy, safe and entertained. I avoid use of screens, and lead by example by rarely using my device to give full attention to the child and demonstrate healthy habits.
Im a driver and can help with school runs, taking children to activities and outings where appropriate. I am also happy to help with homework, reading, creative activities, outdoor play, meals and general routines.
I’m a very active and outdoorsy person and so I believe it’s really important for children to have regular opportunities to get outside, explore and be active. I have experience with Forest School activities and enjoy encouraging children to learn through nature, outdoor play and hands-on experiences. I eat a primarily plant based diet and avoid processed foods, as I’m extremely passionate about nutrition and the impact it plays on your brain health. Where appropriate, I would encourage healthy, balanced eating habits with children in my care, while always respecting parents’ dietary choices, preferences and routines.
Im extremely reliable, nurturing and approachable. I aim to provide a safe, fun and supportive environment where children feel comfortable being themselves while developing their confidence and their independence
